An Cat Dubh worship thread

Anyone else out there love this song as much as I do? It contains one of my favorite lyrics - 'And in the daylight.....A blackbird makes a violent sight'
I collect bootlegs, most specifically from the Boy, October and War eras - this song live is the highlight of the shows. Watch it on the re-issued Red Rocks show and see what you think.
Could not believe it when they brought it back on the Vertigo tour!

I too love An Cat Dubh.  I was so glad they brought it back live on the last tour although I didn't get to hear it at the Seattle show.  It's such a cool song.

I always think how the sound of this song released in 1980 is incredibly modern sounding and laid the foundations for the U2 sound of the next 30 years!

This song should not be listened to without Into The Heart.  An epic medley. 8)

I love the "creepy" vibe it gives off in the beginning. IMO it is the most unique U2 song.

Yes, it rocks, and it must go with Into The Heart.  The maturity of the lads on those songs amazes me.  Weren't they about 18 when they were written?

It's a corker - I dig it as much now as I did when I was 14... and TD is right (for once  :-\) - listen to it with Into The Heart for a musical double whammy of epic proportions...

Ditto on TD's comment.  A brilliant, creepy piece with Into the Heart as the perfect foil.

Absolutely LOVE it - probably my fav song off Boy. I too agree with Zoost, this was one of the highlights of their early shows. The beginning is creepy, creepy, creepy - gives me chills. 8)

One of my top three off of Boy. I really loved that they brought it back for Vertigo- one of my favorite creepy Bono-isms is the cat-persona he does on the Vertigo DVD during An Cat Dubh  ;D

An Cat Dubh is one of the rare songs from U2 that are incredibly sexy. It has a dark and mysterious way of capturing you into the noise of it. The bass is unrivalled on the album and the way Bono whispers "she cat" really makes the hairs stand up on me.

But you cannot have An Cat Dubh without Into The Heart. The way the tracks loop over each other is fantastic. I think U2 should try that more often because it really works when these two classics combine together.

I'd love to hear it live. Too bad they dropped it on the last legs of the Vertigo tour.  :'(
