What kid would buy this? Perhaps the parents would purchase it themselves and give it to their children as a gift. I can't picture a thirteen-year old who's more concerned with girls and debilitating rock such as KOL and Coldplay saying "Hey Mom, can you get me the new U2 Rockband for my birthday?".

My son (11) would pester me until I got it for him, and I never get him expensive stuff like that.  He loves playing guitar hero with his friends and has gotten into many good songs that way.  He also loved the show in Charlottesville.  This type of game platform is one of the tickets to the younger generation getting into the music.  They may like a few of the songs and get it (or have parents that get it) and they will find a lot more they like.  If they don't get it, they will play it at a friend's house and like rocking out to Vertigo, Bullet or the Fly.

A rockband Explorer, Irish Falcon, Some sort of bass and a Yamaha style drum kit for the perheprials and we have a game.
We also need downloadable content consisting of the entire U2 catalog and maybe even the POPmart bass.

If this happend my life will be complete...

U2 could write or release a song specifically for U2 RockBand. I think that with the release of the Beatles Rockband it gives the game a sort of legitimacy that makes U2 more willing to jump onboard with this. I can't wait to play Breathe on the drums.  :)

If I had a guitar hero banana bass, I'd probably never ever leave the basement. Seriously, why would someone not get the game if it had The Bass?

This could be so awesome.

What if you started off as the four lads during the War years and, as you progress and get more skilled at a song, you evolve to the next level of their career? So, as you finally master "I Will Follow," your evolve forward to Live Aid and you are playing "Sunday Bloody Sunday. Keep getting better and you get to ZOO TV. Keep going and you get to POPMART. Once you finally master the game, you are standing beneath The Claw with thousands of screaming fans!

I'd play that.

There HAS to be bonus points available if you can deliver, word for word with proper pausing and accents, the MacPhisto speeches, Fly and Mirrorball Man jibber-jabber from ZOO TV, snippets from other songs during "Bad", extended middle sections of "Bullet the Blue Sky", etc etc etc.....how about a mini-game where you can match, note for note, Edge's solos from various live versions of BTBS???

I would, except that i'm not really much of a gamer.

Precisely a big target market for those making the games ;)

That's interesting, I wonder if it will really make me purchase a game console.

The Wii has built its entire market around casual and non-gamers. Wii + Rock Band/Guitar Hero is enough of an attraction to non-gamers to make hardcore gamers cry in their sunless basements  ;D

If you're not a gamer, it's the console to get. The whole concept of the console is fun, especially with a few people around. Get a few people around, have a few drinks and hit up some wii sports, mario kart, Guitar Hero and you'll have fun for hours. It's gaming for people who aren't gamers (that's why hardcore gamers tend to intensely dislike the console and also why it's slaying the other consoles in the market).

Oh yeah, I get it. I've heard a lot of bad rap for the Wii, saying you can get bored of it easily and etc.

*EF takes a week off work to achieve said task.  Oh damn, I can't, I need to save my holidays to see ACTUAL Edge next year.  That would be the 2011 project though....  ;D ;D ;D*
