I heard a little album called Attclub. Absolutely blew my mind away.
I then heard the Edge burn up some amazing guitarwork on the War album. I believe I needed a fire extinguisher for my CD player after a thorough listen.

And the journey began....

I was a junior in High School when the JT came out and I borrowed my friend's cassette. (yea Im old.). The only song I liked was Streets. I even went to one of the JT shows. My first concert ever. But I still wasnt hooked. However, after the show he gave me the UF and the rest is history! I guess thats why the UF is my fav album.

I did a project on modern Ireland for school in second grade (winter of 1982/83). U2 were mentioned in some article I read. A few weeks later, on a rare shopping trip (only child of a disabled, single parent...I didn't get out much), I spotted the October album (yes, kiddies the vinyl record album) at Temple Book and Bible and was able to convince my Mother to purchase it for me. By the end of Gloria, I was a fan.

Someone played the 1st album for me a few months after it came out. I don't remember if it was Out of Control or Stories For Boys which hooked me, but it was one of those two.

In a small club in Manhattan called the Ritz( U2 remembers it well I'm sure) - a band came on and played I Will Follow.  I have been following them ever since-25 years and counting. Someone who was with the band told my friend at the bar to enjoy them now because the time was coming soon when you wouldn't be able to get a ticket.  How right he was!!!!!
you are so lucky strongirl what an awsome story.

Strong Girl - Wow what a great moment to be there at a small bar/club. That is every U2 fans dream is to see them in a small venue again!! Among other dreams too of course!

Had seen them and liked them before but it was Bad at Live Aid that really caught my imagination and made me a big fan.

I taped a song off the radio in 1985 and couldn't stop playing it, went to school the next day raving about this song not knowing who the band was until a few years later, turned out to be u2 unforgettable fire.
The joshua tree came out and liked the songs from a distance but couldn't stand bono and his pals so never bought the album, was totally blown away with one when i heard it on the radio in 91, but still couldn't stand u2 as a band until in 93 when i heard stay and was again blown away, that was the point when i gave in to u2 and went out and bought every album they recorded and have been hooked ever since.
Unforgettable fire remains in my top ten u2 singles.
