Bono mentioned in new Bill O'Reilly book
« on: October 17, 2008, 08:24:25 AM »
I want all of you to know that Bono has been mentioned twice in the new Bill O'Reilly book/memoir A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity. I don't have the book with me but I wrote down the excerpts that I should be able to post this weekend. I just wanted to give you a heads up on it.

Here's the excerpts that I promised. Sorry it was late but here they are.

From "A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity"
By Bill O'Reilly
(c) 2008 Bill O'Reilly
Broadway Books

Bono mentions:

1. Page 147:

It's not that I don't respect and admire heroes; I do. Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, Bobby Kennedy, Winston Churchill, George Washington, Mother Teresa, Bono, and hundreds of others are an important part of my personal history. I've taken the time to learn about them and, in various situations, I try to emulate their courage and foresight.

2. Page 210:

In fact, you have to think long and hard to find any entertainer with real power. The lead singer of U2, Bono, does have the ability to raise big money for charity and right some societal wrongs, but he is a rarity. Most celebrities are, basically, just temporary diversions for the folks.

Hope you enjoyed that!

That's our guy.  Right up there with Mother Theresa.  Wonder how he'd feel about that?

I still dont like Bill O'Reilly either, he's so radical on his show, sounds like a grumpy old man most of the time...But cool comment on Father Bono..........

He knows his audience and what Fox News pays him to do. It kills me how he talks about entertainers like he isn't one.

Thanks for posting, Debbie.  It must feel amazing to be mentioned among such great people in history like that!
