What book inspired the lyrics to "Exit"?

That would be Norman Mailer's Executioner's Song about Gary Gilmore.

This is one of the darkest U2 songs. It is an amazing song that doesn't get spoken about much. It is overlooked by a lot of the Achtung Baby songs. I heard it is the song that the killer who stalked and murdered actress Rebecca Schaefer played before he did it. That is why Bono does not like to do this song. I don't know how true the last part is though.

I've read that somewhere too, about a murderer saying it inspired him to kill someone. I don't remember what his name was, though.

Exit is an amazing song. I love how dark and raw it is.

Robert Bardo was the killer's name. He was 19 when he killed Rebecca in 1989. So, being a teenager in the 80s, he was totally into anything that was 80s.. and so naturally, among his many obsessions was TJT. But before you think the guy had great taste.. you should know he also obsessed over Debbie Gibson & Tiffany's albums.  :-\

Saints and WITS were at number 1 for 10 weeks each, consecutively, meaning U2 was number 1 from November 18th, 2006 to April 6th 2007!  :o

Vertigo peaked at 2...

What did Adam, Larry, Michael Stipe, and Mike Mills call themselves when they played "One" at Clinton's inauguration?
