I think Glastonbury will get a treat of the new SOA material, even if it hasn't been released yet.

That would be musical suicide! As would be playing their normal nightly set. It will probably be a greatest hits package
As always

the show will go out almost live and the whole set will be shown. so this is  going to be the 1st time in years that control will be taken away from u2 in a concert setting. also what are they going to do with out the claw and the drop down video screen??? plus there is always a big gap between the front of the stage and the fans. there will have there work cut out but i do believe it will be a massive shot in the arm for them as glastonbury is now one of the summers TV highlights in the uk and alot of people watch it.

I understand one of their previous objections was not being able to choose the editing team for TV coverage : presumably they're bringing along their own TV editing team (Hamish blinking Hamilton!) and mixing team, to control the sound & vision.

Wow gee that was a risk.

Playing a relatively unknown song from their most dismissed album in front of thousands of casual U2 fans. Yeah, that's a pretty big risk.

One things for sure. U2 could play U218 beginning to end and thousands of fans would be happy. Same thing if they played TUF. Luckily, U2 is a band that seems to get a hell of a lot of things right, including what songs to play live, as evidenced by overwhelming demand to see their shows.

Boom, I know you don't have kids, but one of the things they tend to do when their parents aren't paying them enough attention is to say anything to get a response.

Well Playing in you blue wasn't that Earth shattering.

First off: The song is called Your Blue Room, not "In You Blue".

Second off: I never described it as "Earth shattering". I merely said it was a risk on U2's part to play such an unknown song live.

May have been a while since they played festivals, but I reckon they're up to it...

I really like the idea of U2 playing a huge gig NOT to hardcore U2 fans.
