The stars relate to the number of posts you've done.  The more posts you do, the more stars you get.  Each star ranking has a different name.  I don't remember what they all are.

this is a question to m2

you mentioned a "profanity filter" in the "Impeach Obama" thread

Q: Is there really a "profanity filter" and how does it work?

Yes, there is really a profanity filter.  We have identified words that we don't want to see on the forum because they are considered offensive by a good portion of those who post here and when someone attempts to use that word in a post, it is replaced with a series of asterisks instead.

That's really cool. Thanks!  :)

Asterisks are sooo much easier on your eyes when you happen to come across some rantings.

I was wondering what are the benefits of adding users to your buddy list?

What I've seen is that when you and a buddy are online, your buddy will show up in a bright color when you look at the main page to see who is logged in at the moment.  If it does more than this, I am not aware of it.

I feel like I'm taking over the "stupid questions" zone. Hope it's not a sign...?  :-\
Maybe this should be my last question (any more might be bad for my reputation).

At the bottom of the Home page "Most on line today" does the number mean a total of that day, or total users online at the same time?

It should be the largest total at one time.

Don't worry, Starfish, I've got one.  :)

What does it mean in the thread titles when there's a little thumbs-up or smiley-face pic?  ???

Oh, oh, let me answer that one!

You can put whatever you want in that spot when you start a new thread, regular icon, smiley, question mark, etc.

Now I'm going to do a Homer dance "I am so smart! I am so smart! I am so smart! S-M-A-T! I mean S-M-A-R-T!"

This is actually a serious question, but might as well go with the rest of my inquiries.

Yesterday my internet was down, so while at a friend's house I decided to log on from her computer and check what's going down on the forum. I missed everyone  :'(

I clicked on the link from atU2.com and got an unfriendly message, can't remember it exactly but it was something along the lines of "Guest you are not allowed to visit the forum
spammer"    ???

Why not?

Don't know. She might be using an ISP or an IP address that's been flagged/associated with spammers and bots.
