Title: Tool
Post by: mcnealy on June 18, 2010, 11:58:22 AM
Tool is a progressive rock band that is considered by many to be a major creative force in the music world. They like to write 12-minute long songs, use weird math sequences to structure their albums, and use a lot of guitar effects (it sounds sort of like a darker version of U2's the Edge in some instances). I like them, and was wandering what other U2 fans thought of these guys. Video below...

Their drummer is good.  Their music is too dark and angst-ridden for me though.  Not my cup of tea though I respect them creatively.

My girlfriend likes them, but me, well, they don't exactly make me happy.

Lol, Danny Carey is srsly one of the most amazing drummers I've heard.  I'd like to hear them try to expand their sound some time though.  Lateralus is srsly an amazing creative peak for them but I can't listen to it very often because it takes me to a dark place where I don't want to be.

Yeah, Tool's stuff is not available to download. You have to get the physical albums.

I highly recommend Anemia and Lateralus.

New song “Fear Inoculum” out.  I don’t listen to this sort of music so much anymore, but not a bad song.  Sounds like Tool being Tool.

I will say, as a 90.2% U2 fan, and a 0.12% fan of Tool— the top two concerts I’ve ever been to were Tool, and they were done in such different ways from each other...
