Title: 360 2011 in North America: Will they add dates? If so, where?
Post by: Domenico of Lovetown on July 17, 2010, 06:47:37 AM
I read something this week where it was indicated that there is the possibility of more North America dates being added next summer.  If there is a release of new material in any form, I could see this happening.

Any neglected cities where they should visit?

I noticed that there were no Ohio dates last year and there are none currently scheduled.  Columbus would would probably make the most sense they could draw from Cleveland and Cincy - or Columbus and Cleveland.

yeah, i think ohio stadium in c-bus holds 120K or something?  or they could do cleveland and have a U23D screening at the rock hall in conjunction  ;)

-Maybe an Ohio date for sure.  Cleveland, Columbus, Cincy...
-U2 has to come back to Boston, its where they "broke in" to America.  Come back to Gillette please!!
-Baltimore?
-St. Louis?

It doesnt really make much sense to go from Michigan to Miami and back up to Chicago.  Maybe another date can be squeezed in between their trips to Miami and Chi-Town

U2 needs to give California some more love...specifically Northern California. Insane to be playing 1 show in the Bay Area, and 3 in L.A. (Rose Bowl, 2 Anaheim shows next year).

Remember they are following three different Claws and that is impacting the tour schedule. One Claw in MI, one in FL and one in IL. Then they go to where the next one is set up fastest and easiest (as well as stadium schedules). So look for the route of each Claw and that might be an indication of where new shows might be scheduled.

I think either San Diego will get a date or Las Vegas will get a repeat visit.

St. Louis. Not a bad drive for fans in several states. And I'd fly from Vegas to see it. Great city, plus I've got a batch of relatives there.

If so, would it be indoors (the dome) or outdoors (Busch)? Lincoln would be outdoors. I'd like to see them come back to Nebraska, and Bono's ties to the Buffett family couldn't hurt. But then they'd have to get the university to sign on to let the stadium have a spaceship land on it. The drive to St. Louis or Lincoln in the long run wouldn't be deathly for most people driving in depending on which one it was. And of course I'm sure miami66 wouldn't mind getting to stay home. ;D

There are two problems w/ Lincoln: 1) the tunnels aren't tall enough for the trucks to get onto the field (of course if they need volunteers to help set it up ;) and 2) the University of Crapbraska turned down the World Cup and would turn down anything that doesn't have to do with the huskers  >:(

If it happens, I would hope it's at Busch Stadium. The atmosphere would be much better than the antiseptic dome, even with the possible heat and humidity to deal with. If St. Louis didn't happen, and somehow stinkin' Lincoln (I'm a Colorado grad) got a date, I'd strongly consider that, too. My best friend (from all the way back in third grade, circa 1977) lives in Omaha and is a huge fan. Me and the missus make it a practice to catch one show per tour with him and his wife. Right now, that show is Denver. We'll see if that changes. Good luck to all those hoping for more suitable additions.

That would be awesome if they played in Nebraska. I live in Oklahoma and I only have one gig that's close to me and it's still 12 hours away. I mean around California they have 4 gigs! A show in Neb wouldn't hurt.

considering there's a pretty huge gap between the Philly and New York shows (both of which I am attending), there's plenty of time for a few shows in my living room.

Of course for entirely selfish reasons, I'd love to see another show on the Eastern Seabord that I could get to easily, but I think the fairest (for the United States) would be somewhere in the Midwest other than Chicago, as it seems to be the region with the smallest number of accessible shows thus far - granted, it's not as densely populated as the coasts, but overall the number of people combined could definitely sell out shows considering that everyone I've ever met from the Midwest considers 4 hours a short ride!  :D

South America, of course, would be awesome, since they didn't go there at all last year.

I don't see a St. Louis show happening.  When Busch Stadium announced The Eagles concert that happened in June, they stated that the claw would not fit in the stadium.  I think that's a load of bull.  They just don't want all that equipment on their precious little grass.  God forbid you interfer with Cardinal baseball in this town!!  You should have heard the b*****ing about the condition of the grass after The Eagles concert.  Saw Popmart at the Echo dome, don't want to do that again.

Thanks for thinking of us Midwesterners, uplate, for a lot of people we're this great blank spot in between the East and West Coasts.  And yeah, 4 hours is a quick trip.

I would be up for a Nunavut show.  They could fit the entire population of the capital city in GA.  After that they go to Norway and play for the Lapps and then down to to Ayers Rock - or Uluru, you'll correct me - for an aboriginal fest.

Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nunavut, Halifax - Nova Scotia and Chicken - Alaska.

Yep, all of them. Right after they play in my backyard on Aug. 29, for my 42nd birthday. You are invited, of course! We'll pound Victoria Bitter until we're victorious, or bitter. What say you?  ;D

I would be up for a Nunavut show.  They could fit the entire population of the capital city in GA.  After that they go to Norway and play for the Lapps and then down to to Ayers Rock - or Uluru, you'll correct me - for an aboriginal fest.

Nah I wouldn't correct you. Either is fine.

Hello, but the U.S. South is completely ingnored on this leg. I can understand if they don't want to come back to Atlanta this quickly, but Charlotte, N.C. would pull people from the eastern seaboard and the South, and Nashville would pull people from Ohio (which doesn't have a show). St. Louis and then all points south.

isn't that where Moncton is? there's usually at least one huge show there every year (the Stones played there on their last tour, I believe)...but I think the "venue" is an open field/park space.

I believe that Moncton is in New Brunswick just north of Maine.  I would make the trip from Jersey.

Nashville, TN

Do you know when was the last time a show was in Nashville?

November 28 1987
Yep, not since the Joshua Tree tour!

I know why they don't frequent Nashville or TN.  When your a band as big as U2, you can't play every little city.  You have to choose central located cities.

Basically, for us TN folks, ATL Georgia is our U2 "home"

I would be all over Nashville. My brother lives there, and Southwest fares from here to there can be cheaper than Amtrak to DC. Place to stay with no travel expenses? Sign me up!

They should play Winnipeg. True there's no feasible place for them to play (unless they play Bird's Hill Park) since the stadium is tiny but dammit Canada needs U2 too!  ;D
