Title: In 2015, if U2 plays Acrobat live plus 3 more rare songs, which would you pick?
Post by: andrewau2 on November 01, 2014, 09:24:08 AM
Maximum votes per user: 3

I picked these choices based on the 80s, 90s, and 2000s poll results that had 30+ votes and threw in Red Hill Mining Town for good measure.

Mofo, Gone, Exit.

Lemon just misses out, I love it but not sure bono could do it justice.

Kite, Mofo, Gone

Kite, Gone, Exit, One Tree Hill

That's 4 and I can't change it! Guess I can't vote again! I'd say Lemon too, but am also concerned about how Bono could do it.

How many members would have to vote in this poll for U2 to take it seriously?

What are the chances they would ever play all of the songs listed?

So Cruel, Lemon, Mofo. I feel that Electrical Storm could be strong live too.

Acrobat is not a "rare" song.  It was part of U2's 2nd best selling album of all time.  I'm sure it got pretty good exposure to be considered rare.

It's just a song they have refused to play live since its creation 15 years ago. No reason for them to suddenly play it.

Cheers,

J

Not on your list, but I would choose A Day Without Me, The Ground Beneath Her Feet, and Stateless.
I always liked the musical direction they took for the MDH soundtrack. Pity they didn't follow that route during the early 00's.
And ADWM is a masterpiece... amazing, considering it was written by U2 in their teens!

I went with So Cruel, Mofo and Red Hill Mining town.  If they also play Mother's of the Disappeared, I will have seen the entire Joshua Tree album played live.

DMan, Lemon and Gone.

I'd be scared to hear Lemon since his voice clearly can't sing it anymore, but if they retool it and pull it off i'd love to hear it.

Mofo nofo. If it's anything like the Vertigo rehearsal itll be unrecognizable.

Hi everyone, My first post on here after a long time lurking!

I go for gone, kite and so cruel. Gone  is one of the few finished songs from  "Pop", Kite is great live and so cruel is a classic.

now Drowning Man is making a come back.  I remember reading that on the 360 tour they practiced it but couldn't fit it in because it seemed like too much of a downer song to come back from.  Perhaps with this new album which is their "blue period," will better fit with the song.

The more I see the votes increase for these songs, the more I keep hoping to hear all of them instead of the old, over-played hits (Beautiful Day, One, With or Without You) which the band feels they have to play and probably will every show.

I guess I'm deluding myself that they will read this poll and really mix up the set list this tour since they claim they want to do something different.

At the same time, I realize that if people have never seen U2 live and go to the show, they will want to hear the hits.  I would think they'd also appreciate the deep album cuts too since U2 is one of the greatest bands of all time.  Wouldn't most concert goers of the band recognize the non-released-as-a-single tracks too?
