Title: Denver Date?
Post by: TheU2Ken on March 17, 2015, 08:49:51 AM
This is very strange. Will they do a 2nd night for Denver? Will they add more cities? Will Ken to see them more then twice if they come to Atlanta?

I imagine they'll want to do a 2nd show in Denver, if demand allows.  If history is anything to go by, they've always had good ticket sales in Denver (except for Popmart).  They did 2 shows at the Pepsi Center on elevation and vertigo, and played to 70,000 or so on 360.  The only difference now is tickets are much more expensive!

Denver is only happening now because the demand wasn't there to do more shows in LA on these dates.  Which means one less stadium show next year for Denver, but I understand they need to fill the schedule somehow.

Are you serious?! That's right in between Noel on June 4 and Royal Blood June 10! Checking airfare! Aaah! Denver!

I called that they would add more tour dates in America. They have no tour dates all throughout August which is kind of suspicious...

Does this mean no LA on June 4?

Not strange...summer holidays!  Also usually at least two weeks between legs.  Also perhaps they want to finish SOE?

They already called NYC8 the final North American show, so I guess the rest would be interspersed between where the original additional dates for other markets weren't announced due to soft sales.

I have have to tell y'all; I have always wanted to go to Boston, but if a date is announced near me -- Nashville or Atlanta -- I am not going to be pleased, because I have already book non-refundable airline tickets.

I understand adding shows, but adding cities months after the initial on-sale dates?

I had known that Pepsi center had something booked that weekend but they didn't disclose what it was.

I guess I'm going to Denver too! Now on to the buying tickets stress.

yea it would kinda annoy me to but then I think Hey I'm seeing U2 in New York too!! I wouldn't have to travel for Atlanta since its 30 minutes down the road. I doubt I would do Nashville since I'm already going to Nashville for a show in May

The NHL is going to play a large part in additional dates being available.  From working in the business previously venues that host teams will block off any event that can't be changed over quickly during the months when the Stanley Cup playoffs occur. They don't know the playoff schedule yet and can't have a large gap in the middle of a series because U2 takes up a 6-7 day chunk for setup-2 shows-teardown. As some teams get eliminated over the next week or two while their regular season winds to a close you may see more pop up when venues open dates to scheduling other events.

This is bitter sweet to me.  I live it salt lake city and bought tickets to Phenix and am excited but Denver is closer and have family there.  It just seems in general the tour has been handled poorly and that's very unfortunate.  So I may try to go to Denver but then they will announce salt lake show and always sell out too.  I'm beginning to think the two night performance or more in one city is a bad call.  I hope they prove me wrong.

What is it with the single show dates? I thought the tour was supposed to be a night of Innocence and a night of Experience. If they turn this in to another typical greatest hits tour where they start to play less and less of the album, I will be very disappointed.

So who is going to try for tickets? Hopefully there are no glitches, you would think there's been time to fix whatever went wrong in the earlier sales. I'm going to try to get GA's in the general sale (used my presale code), so good luck to everyone!

Just speculating, but I am not alone in this belief: LA didn't sell as well as anticipated, so they had a hole in the schedule to fill. So, Denver got a show.

As for SOI, if you look at what Edge said about the new album being 18 months away, you know have to wonder if the stadium leg next year will more of a 'hits' tour rather in support of SOE, which I had anticipated. If Edge is correct and to believed, his comments completely change what I thought they were about to do. And it also might suggest that if the stadium run is a SOI/hits run, this year's arena shows may really be SOI/rarities.

Does anyone know if or how "flash seats" in Denver might siffer from paperless credit card entry?

I'm going to try to get tickets for a buddy and me to roadtrip from Nebraska. Had I known they were going to do Denver, I would've skipped Chicago (where I have to buy a plane ticket) and could've just drove. But I love U2 so YOLO!!!!
Title: Re: Denver Date?
Post by: lorijane on March 19, 2015, 11:01:20 AM
When I look at the flash seats info, it says you can put the app on your phone and a barcode on your phone gets scanned for you to get in. It also says if everyone in your group won't be going in at the same time, you can transfer their tickets to their flash account and they can get in separately. Which doesn't jive with the credit card entry everywhere else in the US (except for NYC), so I'm wondering if that part won't apply in Denver for the U2 show. Looks like the standard credit card entry also will be used on denver. Uncertainty is not my guiding light.

I understand about the new album being months away, but the promise was to perform two different shows between night 1 and night 2. My hope was that one of the nights would have rarities and songs that haven't seen some attention in years. So if Denver only gets 1 show what show will it be?

I think -- and this is just my opinion -- that the night 1/night 2 thing may have been slightly exaggerated -- by us for a change, rather than the band. Didn't Edge say something along the lines of people shouldn't feel obligated to see both? I have no doubt there will be differences, but I don't think it will be what some seem to be expecting.

Until these latest comments, I thought the big difference was going to be between this year's run and next.

As for Denver, I would anticipate two shows unless the first one is a really soft, slow seller.

Ticketmaater sends you to its "partner," Altitude tickets. Whatever partner means. I think it means if something goes wrong, each will blame the other!

Even if they add a second show we'll just do the Saturday one. Makes for a nice weekend!

I just got an email that is allowing me to purchase presail tickets to Denver with a new access code.  I already used mine for Phoenix so I'm surprised and dont not have to purchase another membership.   This is interesting maybe because they realize they created some frustration for this who would have gone to. Denver instead.   Good on them.  Thought I'd let others kknow!

Thanks for explaining. I just checked both my email accounts for U2.com and Live Nation emails and nothing about a presale code. You are likely correct that it was geographic.

They didn't even send me a thank you for travelling all over the country for them since no venues are near me.  ;)

Lemonpop--frustration--ya think? Don't count on it.

Maybe the guys just want the nostalgic sightseeing revisit to Red Rocks. (snark)

For me it just comforts me to know that there actually are other ticket agencies in the US--even if they cover just a handful of 2nd-tier venues. There is hope for the human species. But prices? have they changed at all?

Maybe at this pace if they continue to work their way east, we might get a city below the NE and between the coasts. *snark*

Yes it is 10am and it does say that in a couple of places, like U2.com.

Anyways, make sure you set up your account ahead of time. The site only gives you 3 minutes to do that if you are in the middle of a purchase.

TM redirected me, the other day, to AT. My TM account did not transfer so that's why you need to have your account setup before purchase.

Yep they were gone fast. I had some GA's in my cart, but let them go...can't be sure I could get out there that weekend.

The Flash Seats site already has a bunch of scalpers selling theirs, even though they are mobile-app only. If it still lets the sellers transfer them that doesn't do much to deter them.

Has anyone had experience with tickets in a wheelchair accessible section? I initially got shut out on Flash Seats and found two seats in section 357, row 2WC. I panicked and got them.

I'm sure it depends on the venue, but I wanted to make sure I won't lose my seats because I don't need a wheelchair.  Or, will I be that d-bag who is standing in a handicapped zone while someone else really needs those seats for their wheelchair?

Warning, rant ahead. So no GAs and I was in the aite within seconds of general sale starting. Then I look at &30 crap seats and the fee is 50% ($15+) and if you want hard tix mailed or even on call, it's an extra $25(!) plus only singles available. I am grumpy

I've come to agree that the VIP end zone $240 seats are a fair value. They do come with a gift. There were still some of those $240 seats left at various US shows last week.

This is what the VIP Fan Pkg. $240 ticket includes for Boston -

VIP Fan Package includes a Premium reserved price level 2 ticket, and a U2 Tour VIP gift, not available to general public (shipping included).

I know I need to move on, but...

If the prices for GAs ever seem reasonable on the flash seats resale site, I may buy them (I know, I'm perpetuating a broken system). But if, heaven forbid, the show is cancelled, do I get my money back? I looked in the flash seats faq's and couldn't find the answer. If  I'm the original purchaser I know I would, but how about if they're bought on the secondary market? The tickets are "guaranteed," so I feel certain they're legit, just don't know how a refund would work.

so I was pretty friggin upset that I was in the waiting room an hour beforehand, got redirected within a minute or two of sale start, and still was not able to get GAs.  I had my heart set on getting a ticket so I hastily purchased a GA from VividSeats...including fees it was $250.  It's just money and U2 is worth infinitely more than that, but this reseller business is B.S..  Like how were there already so many tickets up on sites like this just 15 minutes after the tickets went on sale to the public from the original venue?  No wonder GA sold out so fast.  Between the U2.com presale and the tickets reserved for these resellers (however that works), there probably were like 12 left for people to actually get from the venue.

I am a little concerned because my order requires "special delivery" and they have to contact the seller for more info.  Anyone know how flash ticket transfers usually work...? Their FAQ says paperless tickets require VividSeats to "coordinate a meeting" between the customer and representative wherein the representative's credit card is swiped at the entrance for admission.  Like how is that gonna work with GA?  Is some guy gonna meet me in line? o_O

they do have a 100% Buyer's Guarantee which states tickets will be delivered in time for the event "or your money back."  I don't want my money back.  There is no "or."  I just want to know I will be admitted at the event on time without losing my place in line.

Keep in mind that there will probably be a 2nd Denver show, and it'll be easier to get the tickets you want for that show.  Demand will be lower than it was today.

I feel your pain, Afliktor. Also agreed on the second show, but assuming it's Sunday, for most people a saturday show works better.

I'm going for tickets. I will be fine not getting GA and may go for VIP

I can see the value in VIP. Bypassing some of the ticket buying hassle is worth a lot.

Plus no additional fees on VIP, the price posted is the price you pay, unlike the $65 tickets that end up costing $85. And I think &85 is a fair price, just be upfront about it.

Miami66, how'd you do?
I tried for quite awhile and was not able to get GA's. It was pretty much GA or bust for me. I'm not going to pay tons of money and have crappy seats. I also hated all the extra work for this website. I was pretty pi**ed off.  Hopefully next year for the stadium tour the ticket prices are pretty reasonable (40 bucks for GA) and I'll catch a few shows. I'm still excited for Chicago though!!!  ;D ;D

It was super frustrating! Is the Sunday show an option for you? Enjoy Chicago!

Yeah $85 wasn't bad, but

Live Nation convenience fee of $13.95
Live Nation Facility Fee of $4
Ticket price was $65
Delivery on Flash Tickets was free

Not really since I'm already taking off a few days from work because of Chicago.

yea it was like 65 dollars including fees i think. They'll probably increase that though. Springsteen GAs were 120 in 2012 and went up to 140 last year

The "high-end price" for 360 seats was around $150 I think? Or was that for the Vertigo arenas? At any rate, when the "high-end" price for arenas in 2015 is more than double that price, expect a similar markup for stadiums in 2016. I can't decide if that is partly b/c of the change in management or what. We just don't know.
You'd have thought LN would have learned their lesson by now and put cheaper tix onsale for Denver and smoothed out problems with the online buying experience...

Anyone who expects cheap, easily available GA's for stadiums b/c it's a bigger show? Think again. That'll be just that many more tix that end up for resale on the TM tout site. LN limited the amount of GA's fan club members could get with their presale codes, they stole from the fans pure and simple, so they could resell more of them. I'll bet they'd only allow one ticket per fan if they probably didn't fear that would the tipping point for fans. I expect they'll pull such a stunt for U2's farewell tour.

^^ Mary C I think that is looking at the glass half empty...  The amount of tickets that can be bought with a presale code is 2, no matter if they are GA tickets or not. Also GA tickets are CC entry mostly to avoid resellers, except in places like NY where due to regulations that is not possible... Also I think the 2 ticket limit is there not so LN can "steal from the fans", but to avoid scalpers getting memberships and taking all the tickets.

Edit just to add that I sort of remember that the ticket limit per presale code was set to a low number because of the vertigo tour presale problems and fan complaints.

Miami66... for what it's worth, I was just able to grab GA tix for Denver #2 as part of the "Innocence" presale.  $165.90 for two tickets and including all fees ($130 + $8 "facility fee" + $27.90 "convenience fee" [convenient for who???]).

Anyone have any advice on Red Zone for Denver?  I have SEC 108 seats for 1st night, thinking about splurging on 2nd night...

I have GA for night 1 and was seriously thinking about VIP on night 2. Just not sure if I can score GA again because I was able to get those via the first presale.

As luck would have it, I will be in Denver on June 6.    Anyone know how to get two GA tickets without going through stubhub and paying 300 plus?

GAs for Denver are through Flash Seats and are transferrable. Which means if you find somebody who can't use their GAs, they can transfer them to you (you have to set up a Flash Seats account first). It also means there are resale GAs on Flash Seats but they are currently quite a bit above face value. Right now with fees, two would be right at $300. I'm not advocating resellers but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

It's also possible there will ticket drops shortly before the show. You should go to the buy/sell/trade thread under tours for Denver 1 and post that you're looking for GAs.

Looks like night 2 isn't selling all that well. Outside of GA, there are a lot of tickets at all ticket price levels.

I'm not really surprised. A saturday night is going to sell a lot better than a Sunday night.

After the crazyness of the robot captcha fiasco today, I'd not be surprised if people gave up. I finally got a GA, but it was so harrowing! Last Monday's general sale was a breeze!

I counted over 100 GAs on flash seats resale right now for Denver 2, starting at just over $100 and dropping. Yet I know lots of people couldn't get GAs in the general sale. You cannot tell me these GAs are all fans whose plans have changed, perhaps someday the ticket companies will be sued and have to disclose just how many tickets they hold back from general sale in order to put them on their resale site. And then once they are forced to drop the price to face, voila, ticket drop.

^ that's just not surprising.

I'll be selling my extra night 2 GA ticket for my cost. I'm sure Flash will charge an extra service charge.

Flash charges a rather exorbitant "connection" fee for bringing sellers and buyers together (aww, isn't that sweet!).  However, I have successfully transferred tickets for free through them in the past.

You know scalpers buy tickets in presales and general sales along with everyone else, right? Many will post listings on these sites even if they don't actually have any tickets because they know they can get them later and still make a hefty profit.

Once I went early to a box office for a ticket sale and while I was waiting for it to start, wondered why so many middle aged guys were interested in Duran Duran and why they all seemed to know each other. It took a few minutes for me to realize they were all scalpers! They made up probably 80% of the line.

Yeah I know about scalpers, but I think they are being phased out by the ticket companies themselves getting into the scalping/ resale business. Like ticketmaster plus and altitude tickets' flash seats. Eliminate the middle man scalper.

Thank you, for the compliment. ♥ I really really should get my travel agent certification! I've been doing it free for over a decade for friends & family; now U2 is touring, so I need some official TA perks! ;)
