Post by: Waffles on March 27, 2015, 10:28:58 PM
Post your thoughts on where you think the next tour dvd will be filmed! I bet NY!

If they do a US city then I'm with you. It's NY's turn. In Europe, I'd either guess Dublin or Barcelona.

The main reason I think it'll be a US show is because I think they'll want to have a DVD ready to release for Christmas.  I'm not sure any of the European dates would be able to
Be filmed, edited, produced, packaged and put on sale by nov/dec,

Vancouver, San Jose and Phoenix are too early to make a DVD of.  Boston, Chicago, and LA have already had DVDs.  Denver, Toronto and Montreal are possibilities, but I think NYC will get the DVD.

MSG seems to be the obvoius choice...8 shows, plenty of time to record the show.

Urgh. US crowds on a DVD does not an incredible package make.

Too sedate? Lots of us here have GA NYC. Would that help?

I think largely it appears a similar vibe to Australian crowds. Kind of ok but a long way behind Latin America and italy/Spain by all reports! We're just a touch reserved ☺

Rose Bowl was a weird, ugly choice after Chicago, so I'll also vote for a South American crowd.

I'd love to see a well directed and assembled recording of the deep cut gigs of the record. I've seen enough stadium and arena videos, not gonna pay for any of those setlists these days.

I was at rose bowl. It was a great concert. There was lots of energy due to the number of people attending. If there weren't as many people, I don't think it would have been the DVDs as many other places had more magical concets, with more U2 moves(bringing people on stage, etc) Never understood why breathe was made a bonus track.

What I want: Amsterdam (Dutch crowds are always among the loudest. Bono always acknowledges that), Turin (same thing for Italians, they are mad!) or Barcelona.

What I think we'll get: NY.

With all due respect to my American friends, I have to agree with Briscoe here. No comparison with Dutch, Italian, Belgian, Spanish and Latin American crowds.

Even Edge alluded to the Latin America atmosphere in their book... American fans are jaded because they get all the acts... when U2 and other big bands visit LA it's like the second coming of the messiah.  I need to check out a show in Brazil, it's on my bucket list

I was there too.  Awesome show.  Incredible venue, no stadium on that tour was more beautiful than the Rose Bowl.

Only complaint is how scripted it was, and all of Bonos talking and celebrity call outs (much of it edited out from the DVD) really killed the pace is several parts.  Song sequencing also questionable.  But as a venue?  Best I have ever attended, by far.

Most of the big American cities and London suffer from the same we will sit back and you entertain us vibe from reserved seen it all before crowds.

Would be good to see U2 swerve yet another US show dvd release in favour of an Italian show or another Latin country.

I'd heard all this stuff about Italian, Spanish/Portuguese and Latin American crowds being better and seen it in videos but it REALLY doesn't hit you until you're actually there. I'd definitely love them to go that route - though I  think podiumboy is onto something when he notes that they may well want it out for Christmas and that could mean a US show.

NYC makes sense.  They should really offer downloadable shows (video and audio) to fanclub members for a few bucks a piece.  Would be a great souvenir.

I was at rosebowl too and agree it was good, but watch some of the pro shot popmart and even vertigo shows from St America... Or vertigo from Milan. No contest for nuts.

Right about the wanting it to be out for Xmas thing though.

I found the rosebowl crowd similar to Australian crowds. Pretty good, but a little self conscious.

Right on ! The Dutch are full of energy and love to make it a party. Not just with U2 bye the way. The Italians are just as passionate i hear.

I'm surprised nobody bought up having two DVD's one in the US and one in Europe or South America like on the elevation and vertigo tours.

I was at a Best Buy store over the weekend and casually perusing the music aisles.  Looks like Rush has released a multi-concert Blue Ray DVD box set... it had 5 or 6 different shows from different periods.  Price was about $110 USD.

I'd love U2 to do something like this.

That being said, with 8 shows at Madison Square Garden, you should have the best chance to have a diverse audience with fans coming to the concerts from all over the globe, at the height of the summer vacation season.

Would love them to record a Glasgow show especially at the new Hydro as nobody does it better than a Scottish crowd. I remember seeing Adam walk off after a gig at Hampden and just looking back and saying WOW.

Montreal!
Title: Re: Ie tour dvd
Post by: ozmodiar on March 31, 2015, 11:16:45 PM
I think it's Montreal, too. They haven't yet taped a show in Canada and by all accounts the Montreal crowds were fantastic on the last couple of tours. And why else would Montreal get 4 shows and Toronto only 2?

If they follow previous patterns for arena videos, they'd use a city that has at least 4 shows, especially if there are two distinct Innocence and Experience shows.

Where ever they record, I hope they give us two options:

1. One whole show from the run
2. A deluxe package with the whole show and then one performance of each song performed on other nights.

I feel like the highest chances would be NYC. However, I'd love to see a show in a Latin American country. I also thought that they might do a DVD from the O2, seeing as they haven't released any Europe shows since Elevation (I'm pretty sure Slane Castle was the last one. Correct me if I'm wrong).

Of course I also want a Latin American country (preferably one that starts with Mex and ends with ico  :P) but they have yet to announce Latin American dates. Everyone assumes this is given, but let's see.

I believe they intended the Milan show to be a DVD release but they weren't happy with it, so they used just the audio for many of the U22 tracks... but I could be mistaken...

I was at that Cardiff gig....it was the best of the 360 shows I saw, but only what I would call a decent show....bono struggled a bit vocally as well, some partying had left it's mark.

I would be inclined to think it would be one of the MSG shows, but a lot of bands don't release shows from The Garden. Apparently they charge an absolute fortune to put the "Madison Square Garden" name on anything.

I was at the Rose Bowl. Awful. Worst U2 show of the 50+ that I have seen. please not another American show. our crowds are tame/lame compared to Spain, Scotland, Italy, South America.

It would have to be after a few gigs of practice and also ready for the Christmas sales rush. So Montreal!
