Best version of bullet?

Zoo TV for me, I love the synthesizer in bonos voice during the rant and how it was merged with bad

This is a great live song and it always has been

ZooTV. That Dirty Day / Bullet / RTSS / Streets sequence is one of the greatest things ever.

Zoo TV by a mile. The version they are playing now is quite dull without the usual guitar solo.

yes yes it is. Rtss into streets is the best version of streets in my opinion. And I love how Rtss is guitar based

IE's version is great, but Zoo TV is in another league.

The guitar solo is actually closer to the original version on The Joshua Tree.

YESSSS!!! I love the bad or all I want is you into bullet segue they would do. I thought that the Sydney version of bullet isn't nearly as good as the others versions, specifically the one in DC

The Boston Elevation version was outstanding. Very powerful and loved the build up to the end.

I love Zoo TV and IE, but I chose POPMART.

I just watched three different performances of Bullet on Youtube: Paris '87, DC in '92 and Boston in '01.  All three were great, but there's just something about the '87 performance.  I think it's the passion and energy.

its great esp. following Hendrixs' Star Spangled Banner. Works at the intro perfectly.

those are probably actually the 3 best ones, although I prefer the rattle and hum version to Paris

Of course, but it doesn't hold a candle to the gritty sonic assault of the live solo.

1- ZooTV. On fire!
2- Elevation. Best rants
3- IE - feels like JT on steroids
4- JT / LT- no great improv yet but very muscular
5- Popmart - love the energy but something was missing
6-Vertigo- too tired to play loud

These results have surprised me

I would have thought 360 bullet would have run away with it  :)

Bullet is about the arms trade.  so zoo tv takes the prize.

Zoo TV for the sole reason that it allowed Edge to have his Hendrix moment. Epic.

Let me explain, Edge gave a nod to Hendrix during the JT tour with the Star Spangled Banner (you can hear this on R&H).
During Zoo TV he took the solo to another level, making it more raw, bluesy and indulgent. The result is probably the best 3 to 4 minutes of Edge's guitar career. All opinion of course.

His best minutes were the minutes where he came up with the guitar parts for streets intro.

What's great about this song is that it evolved quite a lot over the years. And yet, each time I found a great recording of it :

Joshua Tree Tour : Paris DVD (no star spangled banner intro, guitar sound is very raw, Edge takes the guitar down before the end of the song, even Adam looks surprised by this)
Lovetown Tour : New year's eve version. Great rant by Bono, 11 o'clock snippet... segues very well into the RTTS/Dirty Old Town that follows
Zoo TV Tour : my favorite is the one from the Kevin Godley documentary, that was also aired as "Zoo Radio"
PopMart : I'll pass on this one
Elevation : the Boston DVD version is incredible.
360 : easy pass. Probably why they stopped playing it for 360.

Not a song i especially care for but like just about everything this band have done they did it best in the 90's....so zoo and popmart are the standout versions for me.

Zoo TV and Popmart took the song to very cool places, infusing some more technological and Rage Against the Machine-esque touches. But at the end of the day I think Bullet should sound downright nightmarish - the Edge's guitar on the album strikes me as a dragon's battle cry. So for me, the main contenders are Elevation and I+E.

If Bono nailed the delivery on every word of the I+E rant, even if just once, it'd be a much tougher decision. The last minute has the crescendo-ing momentum that the end of Zoo TV's Bullet had, barreling through the arena like a freight train in a way Elevation's, chilling as it is, didn't. But so far, he hasn't, only acing a few pieces here and there every night so that we can mentally edit them together into a perfect whole. Elevation's solo is a more-than-pleasant compromise between the bluesy solos and show of force of JT/I+E, so my vote is for that version.
