Yeah, we can't wait to hear an tha's opinion when they shock us by NOT starting the show with Wake Up Dead Man  :)

I'm beginning to look forward to the shows now they are close.  I'll be at the last 2.  Wish I was going a week apart but got tickets for consecutive nights when the plan was 2 different sets.  Expecting to enjoy both shows.

i will be going to opening night in London, not looking forward to it, lets hope The Bono's voice is better.

Same old songs FFS - One, SBS, MY, ISIFWILF, WOWU etc.

very disappointed with the set list.

Bono's voice is awful at the moment

Agreed, find some excitment or stay at home, I wasn't looking forward to the prospect of going to The Suffragettes at the Cinema, Ergo, Mrs will be going with her friends.

If you got a spare for Suffragette I'll take it rather than see it go to waste, providing the showing is in London.

It's going to be another day at the office for U2.  Let's hope they switch off the autopilot at least once during the night.

I hope they do the Sweetest Thing the night I go, if just because it's hilarious seeing Bono trying to remember how to play it.  I won't cry if they don't do Elevation.  My friend who is rather indiffernent to U2 really likes ATYCLB, but every time that song comes on on she can't click the "next" button quick enough...

its a big massive con, a rip off to all the fans who have supported this band.  I feel they are taking the pi*s out of their fans.

to keep playing the same tracks again and again and again and again its shows lack of respect from the band to the fans given the prices they have charged for this tour.

Also take into account the stage/screen set up - who on earth passed this as a final design?

your almost paying silly money to look at screen or get a f****d up view.

same old songs its just plain boring. Same old speeches from The Bono

Lets face it U2 are passed their best, Bono's voice is not there.  Larry looks pi***d off half the time. Adam does not give a s**t, Edge does whatever the Bono tells him.  The Bono is just happy to grab all the money he can from us fans.

Count yourself lucky to watch your favourite band. I, myself, could not afford to go to this tour and it will be the first tour I have missed since Popmart. At least your happy to moan about going, I don't even moan about missing out.

why cant they play POP?

I believe they lack the creativity and lack balls to play POP and I don't mean discoteque or staring at the sun

They haven't played regular Pop songs since 1998, why do you keep going back to U2? Surely you would have known this by now?

Sounds like you're so disappointed in them that you could do with paying someone to take your ticket off you - I'll go in your place if you send me your ticket and some paypal.

I'm travelling from Ireland to see them on Sunday night. I can not wait. I know the set list is predictable, Bono's voice is shot and half the people there will probably get bored after the first three songs. I'm not a huge fan of anything they have done since 1997, even SOI. But this is my favourite band, a huge part of my life, that I will finally get to see indoors. There might not be too many more nights like this for a U2 fan. Roll on the weekend!

Very well said.  There's something special about when these guys play no matter how we all feel about their recorded output the last decade or so.

Never heard U2 complain that their fans expect.  I think they like the fact we expect - keeps them sharper.  I think all of us who have liked U2 albums and songs over the past 3-4 decades will enjoy the shows when they come around.

Ticket prices for U2 have been high for 20 years now, but not as bad as some other bands out there.  They do spend a lot on production too.  What's interesting is how the emphasis on production values has turned upside down their 1980s philosophy about it is all being about the music.  The band rejected the emphasis on the visual at that time - no video screens, no fancy stage set up, etc.  Since Zoo TV that all changed.

Just find some joy again mate, yes they're an imperfect band, yes there are better singers out there but bar Gallagher is there really anyone you'd pay a year in advance to go and see ? I doubt it any more.

I give you my local pub band http://www.bonsaipirates.com/ from Bournemouth, why do I keep going to see them play the same songs over and over, because its the joy of 1.  a good tune, and 2. seeing people do what they love to do. u2 don't need to be doing this. numerous tours have nearly bankrupt them.  I honestly really don't care what tunes they play, I just want to {and i only do one gig per tour as not to kill the magic} see the band that has played a massive part of my life, do what they do better than any other band out there. They're still here whilst their compatriots are all gone.

Its strange but as a fan I don't and wouldn't want them to pander to me, I'm a paying consumer, and I pay for them to do what they think is best, they are artists and creators and I am not, they'll play what they want to play and good for them for doing so.

Please find some joy in been in a room of 25k people who share the same joy as you do/did.

The only time I've been there was for the Manics when they did all the singles... and I was a mile back and thought it was rubbish.  Took ages to get into the arena too and the security was overbearing.  The Manics usually play much more intimate venues but that just isn't available for us U2 fans.  On the plus side the fact the stage is basically the centre of the arena should make it a more inclusive and lively show than the MSP one was.

Okay, yes Gone, fair enough.

Discotheque on the other hand, twice on one tour does not count as regular.

Actually to be fair, I saw them play Discotheque and Staring at the Sun at Birmingham NEC Elevation tour. Okay since 2001 U2 have avoided playing Pop songs on a regular basis. ;)

same old bloody songs I am so fed up of hearing them.

why cant they play POP?

I believe they lack the creativity and lack balls to play POP and I don't mean discoteque or staring at the sun

They haven't played regular Pop songs since 1998, why do you keep going back to U2? Surely you would have known this by now?

Discotheque
2005-09-17 - Toronto, Ontario - Air Canada Centre
2005-09-20 - Chicago, Illinois - United Center

Gone
Played regulary during the Elevation tour

Okay, yes Gone, fair enough.

Discotheque on the other hand, twice on one tour does not count as regular.

Actually to be fair, I saw them play Discotheque and Staring at the Sun at Birmingham NEC Elevation tour. Okay since 2001 U2 have avoided playing Pop songs on a regular basis. ;)

I was there man in the heart ! difficult gig for Bono If I recall,

I remember just being peeved at the sound. It wasn't very good where I was sat. But they play Out of Control, Discotheque, Staring at the Sun that night. New York looked good with the drapes. Don't remember Bono having a tough time, was it because of his old man? I am under the impression all those gigs around that time were tough for him.

The speeches by Bono drive me up all the wall, the photo of him reading from the autocue to announce the next song - cedarwood road is jut cringe worthy.

Patti Smith is playing in London during the U2 shows. She would do great with U2. Though, the quality of the music with guests is not usually  good in my opinion.

I hope some politicians come to the shows and Bono can discuss Raised by Wolves issues. Again, usually not crazy about Bono's political rants, but I can live with this one. Love how he is pushing for the truth on this.

With 6 shows, variety on the E stage would be great. Looking forward to a wonderful time in London!

Not sure why all the negativity?! I've listened to a lot of Mixlr streams & watched live Periscopes during the tour.

It's an amazing show. I'll be at 1 & 4 ... can't bloody wait!  :D

The info I received from AXS stated Sunday night doors open at 6:00pm with U2 at 7:00pm.  Monday onwards doors at 6:30pm and U2 at 7:30pm.  I am not sure how that compares with the official start times of previous shows.

Is it really worth the bother.....all the feedback has been there is no need to queue all day to get a great spec....spend the time relaxing, being warm, eating and drinking quality fayre and being comfortable.

Each to their own and all that but this is how I see it.

I live near the O2 so it won't be too bad if i don't get in  :)

I don't think they will either, but if it isn't a ballache for her to be there & he wants peace of mind then he can bring her along.I think the ID thing has been concocted by the ticket agencies to try & put off touts with little or no intention to check ID's at the venue.

I.e. get in just before the gig starts and be on the rail at the back of the standing area.  This is where I stood for 360 and Elevation - went for the back of the rail, albeit in the segregated section in front of the stage.  You got a great view from there and see all the action clearly, not just the bits where the band perform near you.  Moreover, there is no getting screaming people climbing all over you trying to get to grab Bono's attention.  Whereabouts in front of the seats do you recommend Rob?  About halfway between the main stage and the E Stage?

I found that between the Centre of video wall and towards E-Stage was great ... The atmosphere was ace ... I had a rail spot with my friend but I found it stressful with everyone trying to get at the band ... Most weren't even interested in the show ... Just wanted to make eye contact with the band ... and the sound was poor on the rail... there was little bass coming through ... So I left the rail after 5 songs and moved between the screen and e stage ... Loads of dancing room ... Better sound and atmosphere ... Loved it

Thanks - that's helpful advice.  I think I'll go for that area too as good atmosphere and space make for a great evening.  The sound should definitely be better there too given how the speakers are arranged, and it'll be nice to see the visuals a bit better.  Where I stood on 360 meant I missed out on much of the visuals.

I went to 2 Berlin shows ... night 1 GA ... Night 2 was the premium seats ... I'm going to London 2 GA and I'm gonna hang back ... I realised pretty quickly that by being on the rail that I was missing the gig ... I've been to Popmart, Elevation, and Vertigo tours and i genuinely hand on heart recommend getting some beers down you in the boozer and turning up on time ... I had to queue for Berlin 1 but we had the luxury of being able to drink beer outside and a bar at the side of the queue

Cheers, Rob.  I've always enjoyed my U2 shows a bit more when I have stood back.  Zoo TV in particular was great as you could walk around the edge of the standing area following the band as they moved between stages, and still get a great view and sound, and the atmosphere was much more communal and involved.  Happy days.

I'm going to 2 with GA tickets and possibly a third in the seats if I can't find a buyer for the tickets (bought before I managed to get GA).  Is it enjoyable from the seats too?

It's ALL enjoyable, it's a freakin' U2 show!
You will have an incredible time regardless of where you sit or stand.

Hard to say as I had the best seats in the house ... Did a deal with a tout 5 mins before they came on traded my row z block z ticket 30euro ticket for a 200 euro seat (paid 80 euros)... Cushioned armrests private bar and seat service ... Perfect view perfect sound ... Was surrounded by corporate types ... Pretty much all the people surrounding me left half way through ... Mega though

For GA Use your Zoo TV tactics and you won't be disappointed

So where does the queue for the 9am queue start, and can we get from the front of it to the queue entry before someone who just arrives at 9am joins it?

This post is in jest, yes?

Either way its spectacular... I don't get all this queuing sh** ... Im aiming to be the last man to enter the arena ... Pub first ... Let's get pi**ed!!!

You'll have to be behind me, pal
Oh ur going ?wow that's a surprise, maybe u will leave all that negativity  outside the O2 after u have seen the Gig and remember 90% of fans will only see the show once so they won't be moaning that they played a similar set in Berlin :o

If you have a ticket then there's no rush to get to your seat? Hang about outside as close as you dare ... I had already spoke to a tout earlier and knew he wanted 250 so I went and had a pint and put my ticket and 80 euros in my wallet ... Rest of my cash in my jeans ... Tout wanted 250 and in 15 minutes time he knew it was worthless ... Showed him the 80 euros and my ticket ... He haggled 250 down to 150 in seconds ... Showed him my wallet again and said that's all I have and walked away ... He shouted me back and took the deal .. You gotta hussle the hustler!!! GA tickets were well sought after though my friend paid double the face value

Cheers for the tip  :)  Amazed a tout was silly enough to keep such an expensive ticket available so close to stage time.  Glad a fellow fan got a great ticket at a decent price, however.  I got a half price seat on 360 but it wasn't very good and I had to wait till the band had started to get it.

True ... But good touts  rarely pay full price ... For U2 they will want to make at least 30 per transaction... I observed this tout buy a GA for 90 and sell for 140 ... But he told me earlier in the day GA were selling for 200 so I guess he was happy to take the risk ... Also no danger of being stuck with a ticket because you had to enter with person with the mobile ticket ... Easy money ... Tickets on the other hand you have more negotiating power because they could just as easily be binned

am attending london 1 & 2... so reckon ill hang back on night 2 to catch the production more and go upclose night 1...

if anyone had to choose to be somewhere on the rail - where would it be? E or mainstage? or inbetween? Anyone attended a show already that can advise the best viewpoint on rail?

I think that overall, the set lists are what they are and the show is great no matter what, but Elevation is the one song I wish they'd stop playing. I'm just glad I didn't get it in Toronto.

Idiots. They will realise their foolishness once they get into the arena and realise they could've just rocked up midday tomorrow.

I think at 2pm you could probably get a rail place but it's unlikely that would be by the E stage.  As Rob said yesterday, everywhere in the standing area should be good - he left the rail and stood back so he could enjoy the sound and atmosphere more.

9am will be the earliest for me.Jesus, I saw the Foos at Manchester & Milton Keynes a few weeks ago, queued from 8am and was at the front.Thats with 50,000 plus people attending.
I shall queue from about 2pm on Thursday, should be enough for 2nd row on the e stage.

Just watched the Martian at the O2 saw a bunch of U2 fans in tents outside the arena. Crazy as its raining like crazy and windy as hell. Must have been at least 30 odd fans

I think at 2pm you could probably get a rail place but it's unlikely that would be by the E stage.  As Rob said yesterday, everywhere in the standing area should be good - he left the rail and stood back so he could enjoy the sound and atmosphere more.

I won't be able to see anything 2nd row being 5ft 2inches so it has to be front row rail for me.

I know it is each to their own and all that but why do they do it?

Makes no sense to me.

Gonna be a long night - extra hour due to clock change!!!

Nice people at London gigs tend to let shorter women who can't see anything stand in front of them - at least I do and I've seen others do it too.  Not sure what this particular crowd will be like, however.

I wouldn't get hung up about being close to the band as watching the footage on youtube this show seems very theatrical rather than interactive.  I know the stage cuts right across the arena but I don't sense a great deal of personal interaction with the crowd except when they drag someone up to use the mobile phone or play guitar.

I wish everyone the best of nights. I will stay away from all the analysis until Monday night is done with so I can go with only vague expectations. Hope the lads make it memorable whatever the playlist and however high the bar has been raised on previous tours.

Let's get pi**ed!!!

yes either way it will be brilliant. personally, i was spoiled at popmart in sydney and had the perfect rail spot - and i can say it makes a massive difference. But then - it will be great  rail or no rail...
Damn good show to have scored rail for.

Was that because you had rail tickets, moved around a bit, or had the dodgy wiretag system going? (personally, option 2 then option 3)
