Running to Stand Still is my favorite. One comes really close behind. Then Streets, Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, and With or Without You.

Nice to see someone voted for Lemon.
Have been listening to Zooropa in preparation for No Line and for me Lemon is the centrepiece of the album.
That song is truly one of a kind in U2's catalogue.
Killer bass line too!!!

I voted New Years Day.
The Geoffrey Dahmer of Bass Lines!!!!!!!  :-*

I personally think stay is the centerpiece, lemon is the 2nd or 3rd best on the album though

Bad -it is my top favorite of all time and forever.
Like to see that the top 4 are mine too, but then I read Love is Blindness, Stay, Lemon...
How difficult it is to really choose? You have to go with your first instinct, otherwise you think of the 20 or so other U2 songs that are your favorite!!

Where The Streets Have No Name, all versions are amazing... And in concert, the sheer power and amazingness of this song is out of this world

But

Bad, live version is just wow... it's really close behind.  I think that Bad followed by Streets is the ultimate concert climax you can get.

I don't know which is better, that Streets (my fave) has more votes than any other song or that "Other" is in the lead with 9 votes.  That says something about the depth of their catalog, imho.

Theres no way i can name one song, so these are a few that are equal:
Stay
Hold me thrill me kiss me
Lady with the spinning head
One
Unforgettable fire
New years day

And the song that people will look back on in a hundred years time as u2's greatest is One.

I'm another "other"er.  I don't know what it is about me, but I tend to go more for deep album cuts and B-sides than the ones that are traditionally accepted as The Greats.  And, like kale, I could never just name one.  My top ten, though, would probably include (depends on the day):

Love Comes Tumbling (talk about a great Adam bass line!)
Ultraviolet
Spanish Eyes
Heartland
The Unforgettable Fire
An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart
Like A Song
Kite
Running To Stand Still

2 through 5 are top notch choices.  "So Cruel" has great promise for me, but drags during the break with the lines about the "see-through dress" and "screaming flower".  If it were one minute shorter without that break I would consider it a classic.

I remebered my criteria for my top ten songs of all time...it's got to hook you every time..no matter how many times you hear..it still stops you or you tune it or it makes you feel something..every time. Not many songs can do this and that's why I voted for One. It STILL gets me every time, even if it;s someone else singing it ( Mary J Blige..hairs on back of neck good!). There are other U2 songs that do this, WOWY ,RTSS, Bad but I'm going for One...it's the daddy (Could have done with a killer video though !!!)

1- KITE : Only song I like more than "one" or "streets"

2 - RED HILL TOWN : Would love to hear it live, I don't think they ever did, too-demanding vocally

3 - NORTH AND SOUTH OF THE RIVER : Love the hypnotic trance like theme.

4 - WINDOW IN THE SKY : Heard it on the "U218 singles"

5 - OUT OF CONTROL : Awesome Live or not. This is the ultimate U2 party song!
Peace.

Okay we need more Bad people out there....I know it isn't really a contest. I do love Running TSS (esp the ZOO TV in Sydney one whoa) but in regards to ONE --- and I am sure I am in the minority here --but what ruins that song for me is seeing those poor buffalo running and then the photo of them going over a cliff....I just think what was chasing them....and that they were scared etc....just a horrible image....not a humane death at all...I know it happens but I don't like to watch it....I mean duuuude that stays with ya....

Yer - maybe a British thing (or just me) but the weather in England is confuzzling. Sometimes when it raining I tend to replay Unknown Caller and Moment of Surrender while if it sunny, I play Beautiful Day, Streets, Vertigo and I Will Follow more.

"Song" or "recording"? If it's song, that's a tough call. I'd probably change my mind every 5 minutes. If it's recording, it's a no brainer - the Live Aid version of Bad.

I voted for "Streets" for one main reason.  If you read up on the song, it had so many layers in its creation, it was almost scrapped by production due to frustration.  In terms of compilation, Steets brings so much to the table.  Aside from also being their best live song, the song is awesome in every aspect any way you slice it!

My (very close) 2nd favorite U2 song
