There's no guarantee it will be a full band version.  Prolly just Bono and The Edge with an acoustic guitar or piano.

Lumineers and one republic for the USA. Mumford and sons and Noel Gallagher for Europe. Europe wins this time

I'm on tour in Europe with my own band in July and those European dates couldn't be any more awkward for me :( ... Even if they add a 2nd night to most of those nights. Ah well ... Have fun everyone!!!

F. uck.   So they're literally putting the I+e tour on hold.  Cmon man wtf.  Excited to see them at Bonnaroo, but other than that not interested in seeing a 30 year old album which some of the songs he can't sing to their full potential.  I'd actually prefer best of 1980-1990 so that younger fans would get into the fast songs and mosh pits would be a thing.

Seats in GA, get real.  Let's call a spade a spade this is dinosaur territory.

I would take Mumford over Noel anyday.

I'm blown away by the "full album" statement. Love it.

Unfortunately Paris and Brussels are right in the middle of my vacation... I'll need to make arrangements.

And did he mention Songs of Experience by name?

No mention of South America or Australia... no album until end of the year... yeah, 2017 officially sucks.

I can't find it anywhere- will the shows be only the Joshua tree, or other songs as well? The album is less than an hour, will they only play that amount of time?

It would be in keeping with the album to only play other 1980s songs ala the Best of 1980-90.

Does anybody think they could leave out BD, Vertigo and UTEOTW, MW and One etc from a show?

Do you think Bono can resist having an encore of:

1. Vertigo
2. Desire
3. Mysterious Ways
4. Until The End of The World
5. Beautiful Day
7. Every Breaking Wave
8. One

It would be horrible to do a Joshua Tree Tour and use (hit) songs from after '87. I'm hoping for some gems being played. Forgotten songs from all time and UTEOTW or a beautiful - in a low register - new single are alowed for me. ;) I think used songs have to fit with the Joshua Tree; Vertigo, Beautiful Day, etc. don't fit for it.

And then the election [happened] and suddenly the world changed. This is the best bit, can only turn out well from here:
"We've given ourselves a little bit of breathing space for creativity."
Title: Re: Shows on Ticketmaster- official announcement posted!!!

from the interview with Edge:

...when we came off the last tour, the Innocence and Experience indoor tour, we headed straight into finishing the second album of that set, Songs of Experience, which we were pretty much complete with after a couple of weeks of the final touches leading up to the end of the year. And then the election [happened] and suddenly the world changed. We just went, "Hold on a second – we've got to give ourselves a moment to think about this record and about how it relates to what's going on in the world." That's because it was written mostly, I mean, 80 percent of it was started before 2016, but most of it was written in the early part of 2016, and now, as I think you'd agree, the world is a different place.

Will the next record be Songs of Experience or is it possible it will be something else entirely?

No, I think it's Songs of Experience. When I say it's almost done, we definitely want to take this opportunity to think about it, make sure it's really what we want to put out given the changes that have occurred in the world. And maybe a little will change, but we absolutely wanted to take that chance just to reconsider everything. And who knows? We may even write a couple of new songs because that's the very position we're in. We've given ourselves a little bit of breathing space for creativity.

This bit is especially poignant, can only turn out for the best for all concerned; "We've given ourselves a little bit of breathing space for creativity."

Yeah we're gonna end up with something even more overcooked than The Miracle, except, hang on, it's got that political touch we're all just craving to hear.

The fans are going to be thrilled. There's many songs you haven't played in decades. Then there's "Red Hill Mining Town," which you've never played.

That's true. I had a couple of days at the end of a studio session where I was listening to that song and working on guitar parts for it, which I hadn't thought about for so many years. That tune in itself is just right slap-bang in some ways what's going on with the U.K. It's not quite as intense, but there's industrial action breaking out all over the U.K. for the first time in generations. It's not exactly a repeat of the Winter of Discontent, but it's wild those issues are coming back. It does seem like politics is polarized in so many parts of the developing world to an extent that I find worrying. I'm sure most people do. Those days were difficult, dark times, and personally we really would hate to see it go back there.

*Takes a deep breath and hope I don't get banned* What's he rabbiting about industrial action in the UK for?

The song is relevant because of the coal miners being laid off - and community disintegration - in the USA NOW!

What a joke. Can't believe it, but I'm picking next album in 2019. This is nothing but a pathetic excuse for backing out of SOE... they probably needed to make Live Nation happy... here's a solution.

This is just off the top of my head, but Edge said they probably want to build it a bit live before starting Streets, but the album will be in sequence. So what do you think a setlist would look like? Here's my best guess:

Set 1:

1.   Out Of Control
2.   Vertigo
3.   I Will Follow
4.   Sunday Bloody Sunday
5.   Pride (In The Name of Love)

Set 2 (The Joshua Tree)

6.   Where The Streets Have No Name
7.   I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For
8.   With Or Without You
9.   Bullet the Blue Sky
10.   Running To Stand Still
11.   Red Hill Mining Town
12.   In God’s Country
13.   Trip Through Your Wires
14.   One Tree Hill
15.   Exit
16.   Mother’s Of The Disappeared

Encore:

17.   Desire
18.   Until The End of the World
19.   Mysterious Ways
20.   Even Better Than The Real Thing
21.   Song For Someone (Acoustic)
22.   Every Breaking Wave (Acoustic)
23.   City of Blinding Lights
24.   Beautiful Day
25.   One

Very high I'd hope. There were no issues last time around, and that was for Arenas. This should be even easier.

Can the presale code only be used for one show? For example say if you buy two tickets to Croke Pk with your code can you use the same code for another city, or do you have to use it in one go?

Still curious as to what the prices will be for the U.S. shows. Most likely doing regular GA again, but wondering what else they might have in tow....

Interesting that Red Zone appears to be one side of the front stage too, based on that map.

Would it kill U2/TM to have the prices listed with the various seating/GA sections. Red Zone prices would be nice to have as well.

It is the same thing. U2 gives you a presale code to use on TM.

Does anybody have any estimates on what you think the prices for different levels will be, or do they remember from 360? The range of 35-280 that's currently on Ticketmaster doesn't really help me when it comes to budgeting. I'm looking specifically at Soldier Field, if that helps.

I noticed the price range for the Chicago show too as that's the one I could go to.  Did you notice the B-stage and ramp look like a tree on the seating chart?

2 Florida dates and no Atlanta. So annoying. Doubt I'll make it
I guess they figured Bonnaroo was close enough for Atlanta fans to attend. However, I don't want to pay a ridiculous amount for a music festival only to care about one act. I'm sure I'd have to sit through a lot of crap artists and deal with high teenagers. I would also probably have to stand a long way away from the band with a bunch of people blocking my view (I'm short). I want to see a U2 show with U2 fans. The band have skipped the 9th largest city in the US for three straight tours. Really, guys? On the other hand, a music festival might be a cool experience for the summer between undergrad and law school.

The politicization of the tour alientates half of their fans. I thought they have grown up a lot since TJT was released, but I guess not. They need to realize that some people have different views from them, and that's okay. America is great because everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. However, when your turn your show into a political rally, it gets old very quick and is a bad business decision. Some may be less enthusiastic about seeing them. Disclaimer: I'm not one of those people. I'm paying Roger Waters a crap load of money so I can listen to his anti-semetic rants. Why? Because he puts on a darn good show. I would do the same for my favorite band if they were coming to my city. Unfortunately, there are plenty of causal fans who will spend their money elsewhere if they keep advertising the tour as an anti-Trump rally.

So, I take it "Red Hill" and "Wire" groups are all different levels of the U2 fan club, depending on how long you've paid into it?

It was probably the radius clause that Roo has. Yea going to a music festival for one act doesn't sound like a great time. But Roo is especially hard since its a camping festival and pretty pricey.

Roll Tide, my friend!

My best friend lives in Tampa. That may be what we do.

I wonder if the impending demolition of the Georgia Dome on June 1 played a roll here. Seems like St. Louis or Charlotte might be good alternatives. With my luck, they'll fill in that gap with something closer after I buy the tickets.

Or those who signed up as of today. In the past, they have done three tiers: long-time subscribers, shorter-term, and those who signed up after the tour was announced. I am wondering if they are just doing two this time, and Red Hill is just people who were in before today and Wire is those today and after. That also would suck. A lot of things about this are sucking in my opinion.

Thanks.  I subscribed once, a long time ago--right when the club started up, I think.  Just before the Vertigo tour.  Thought the presale would enable me to get some good tickets.  I got 300-level for my trouble, and decided never to renew after being screwed over.  (But I do still have my metal membership card!)  So it looks like I'm in the general public group.

Unless anyone wants to pass along a presale password......?  ;)

What are the chances of scoring GA in the wires group?

Very high I'd hope. There were no issues last time around, and that was for Arenas. This should be even easier.

Good to know. I missed out on the last tour. I figured with stadiums that GA would be easier since it's bigger.

Only two groups. Those who bought recently and after the announcement are the second group going on Thursday in most places.

I dunno.  Maybe it's because I find I generally agree with their views, but:

1.  I don't think it's going to be all THAT political.  Yeah, Edge is framing the tour like it's the 80's all over again, but we all know they'd be doing it regardless of the US election results.  And...
2.  Grow up?  I mean, Bullet the Blue Sky was written about a very specific political situation (and later applied to others).  By what you're saying, it seems like they shouldn't have even written the song in the first place.  Or Sunday Bloody Sunday.  I guess I'd wait until the tour to see what actually happens, but I think they've been pretty broadly appealing to different political stripes.  "The US foreign policy in the 80's was kind of sh**ty, particularly when innocent people suffer violence in El Salvador" and "stop killing each other over old religious and political differences" seem like stuff most folks could get behind.  Lastly...
3. I'm a big Roger Waters fan--I was debating about going to his upcoming show, but haven't pulled the trigger yet--and I keep seeing accusations of him being anti-Semitic, which I don't see at all.  I think he's capable of criticizing what a state government does without having any ill will for people of Jewish faith.  I think it's a distinction which we should keep in mind.  Otherwise, it makes it impossible to look honestly at what that government does.  Just my two cents.

Roger Water is another level ass**le! Love his music, but his words towards Israel and Conservative Jews are a disgrace. Based on principle I don't even liston to his songs on the radio anymore. Don't give him your hard earned money!

Has anyone heard or seen anything on Montreal.  It's a perennial stop for U2 and one of their favorite places to perform.  I know 360 could not take place at the Big O, in fact they had to build their own temporary stadium to house the Claw since the Big O would not accomdate it's height.

The Big O also stinks and is falling apart but AC/DC played their recently as have others, so it is possible.  Would also be cool as that was the location of my first U2 show and it was the Joshua Tree tour.

Maybe they could not cut a deal with Evenko which does the ticketing for that venue not Ticketmaster.

Felt a bit skeptical about this tour -- and then when it was officially announced this morning, all that evaporated in an instant ;)  Really excited to hear some of those JT deep cuts. Also, the Rose Bowl's a fantastic venue! I just hope they really do put out SOE before the year's over.

Can the presale code only be used for one show? For example say if you buy two tickets to Croke Pk with your code can you use the same code for another city, or do you have to use it in one go?

If you only buy (2) tickets for Croke that leaves you (2) tickets to use with same code for another show. This tour is allowing 4 tickets for presale. Once you use up to 4 tickets you are done.

Tickets for U2: The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 are on sale Monday, January 16th in Ireland, the UK and Europe and on Tuesday, January 17th in the US and Canada. Ticket prices start at €35.00 / £35.00 / $35.00 with general admission floor tickets at  €70.00 / £70.00  / $70.00.

Thank you! I'm guessing fees are on top of that?

Yes...fees upon fees on top of that!

Still curious as to what the prices will be for the U.S. shows. Most likely doing regular GA again, but wondering what else they might have in tow....

Interesting that Red Zone appears to be one side of the front stage too, based on that map.

Per Ticketmaster for the Rose Bowl:

6 Ticket Limit - US $35.00 - US $280.00

Additional fees are applied at Checkout. Prices subject to change.

I just looked up the Coldplay concert at Soldier Field for comparison's sake, it looks like there is a $3 facility charge, $13.05 service fee, and $0.85 tax on a $96 ticket. I'm guessing it'd be slightly less than this for the GA tickets, so you're probably looking at $85 per ticket with fees included.

Does anyone know the price of GA tickets and RZ tickets? Why not release the prices immediately?

I've skimmed through so much stuff I don't recall where I read something about GA zones.  Now I can't find it and doesn't appear to be any evidence of it on Ticketmaster.

GA tickets are $70 + fees. Red Zone hasn't been announced yet, but I'm guessing it's at least $250 much like the 360 tour.

Wonder why UK GA tickets are $95 when GA at the USA shows is $25 cheaper.

QUESTION?   I've been fan club member, off and on, since Propaganda days.  Labeled as "Red Hill Group", but if I recall in the past they would have already emailed me my "pre-sale code", or is that the long code they have listed in my account that I use on the Ticketmaster website?  Has anyone gotten an email with their code or has everyone had to log into their U2.com account to receive it?

Any help or headsup would be greatly appreciated.

The code is the long number/letters in your account.I haven't received an email with it in.

No email other than the original announcement.

You can tell what group you are in by the first 5 letters of the code.  If it is U2JTA it is the first group, if it U2JTB it is the second group.  The first group is anyone who had a membership on Dec. 24th., the second is for any one that has recently joined or rejoined.

It is in the FAQ section on U2.com.

Disgraceful....not necessarily u2's fault I assume TM or whoever it is are on the take big time here but it is just disgraceful - but whilst people pay it they'll keep charging it.

Of course there are costs but this just smacks of a massive rip off to me.

If you an iphone or smartphone use the ticketmaster app. I didn't have any issues. I got straight in. The app is always the best way to go. No hiccups.

If you have both a laptop/desktop and a smartphone at your disposal, it's not a bad idea to have both going at the same time, for sure. I've had situations where both saved me from an issue with the other one.

Also remember on desktop to not have multiple tabs open in the same browser with TM.com. Use different browsers instead.

I would think so. I didn't get that far with using both the app and two browsers, but I think it'd possibly only be an issue if you made more than one purchase with them. Not sure if that'd be the case if you bought under the four ticket limit or whatever.

These shows are expensive, even though they're in a stadium.  I am bemused that the American concerts cost less than the UK shows: $70 for standing in the USA, and £70 in the UK.  Perhaps this is partly due to the declining value of the pound but we're not at $1=£1 yet.

The more I think about this whole tour the more troubled I am by it.  I am glad to hear the boys politically fired up but it'd be good if they put that energy into some new songs and lyrics rather than cashing in on an old album.  The whole "let's perform an old album" trend is great business as artists and their managements know they have guaranteed success and don't need to risk anything new.

Yeah, I think it depends on a couple things:

1) the venue for the concert
2) where you live (I think these tickets have sales tax?)

I've heard anywhere from $87.50 to $93 for the Chicago show, so that's why I'm thinking whatever state you're from also dictates the price.

Fair enough I suppose. There is a demand for the shows.

I don't know why U2 spent a long time in 2016 completing SOE if they were just going to shelve it & then revamp it in 2018.

Yeah, let's not yet give up on SOE...

Depending on how serious they are about finishing SoE and touring it I don't expect them to extend TJT30 tour beyond the summer.  It looks like they will limit TJT30 tour to territories the original TJT tour visited.

Alas!  As much as they seem to be limiting the tour to countries they went to in 1987, they are skipping out very many cities they stopped at on the original tour  :(   Wasn't Sun Devil Stadium in 1987 one of the very cheap shows they put on for the R&H movie?

I believe so...I didn't live in this area at that time, but I know they did film a lot of R&H at Sun Devil.

Some people are reporting a GA ticket drop for London at the moment, if anyone's still looking...

Yeah, let's not yet give up on SOE...

Depending on how serious they are about finishing SoE and touring it I don't expect them to extend TJT30 tour beyond the summer.  It looks like they will limit TJT30 tour to territories the original TJT tour visited.

Tickets were $5.  How times have changed!  It must've been cold being a December gig.  All the colour footage for the film comes from those shows, I believe.

$5? No way! And now it'll cost $280 for a decent seat? Hear me heave a big sigh...
As far as cold in December...sometimes you can get away with a t-shirt and shorts in December in parts of Arizona...it's a great place to live, except in the summer when it can get to 118 !

I was planning to hit Vegas with my wife in the next few months, but maybe I'll wait if they play Vegas in May. The one thing that is hard to relate to with this band now is the huge ticket prices. I just spent $300 for the Vancouver show which I'll go to with my buddies. If me and my wife go to the Vegas show that's at least another $600 (depending if we have to buy from scalpers). Convert the Vegas show from American $ to Canadian and that's over $1000 for me to see 2 shows. All 3 Zoo TV shows I saw combined didn't go over $100! As I said to my buddy when we got the Vancouver tickets, this tour is a huge cash grab and we are all to happy to give them our $.

London, Amsterdam and Paris all listed as sold out on U2.com. The latter two have had 2nd shows added.

The extension into 2018 has begun.

Has it?  The tour still ends on 1 August as far as I can see.

Bono needs his annual France august vacation where he leaks new songs

Is there any hope at getting decent seats or a general admission ticket for us mortals who aren't u2.com subscribers?

Sure. Just be quick. GA tickets, while not cheap, remain affordable.

Be patient & persevere. Face value GA tickets are dropped periodically so keep checking back. I managed to get one for London at 4pm this afternoon. Good luck!

Flawless pre-sale again on my part : just got a ticket for the 2nd Paris show.

But after the 200€ tickets of show 1 I went for the cheapest 40€ ticket on show 2. Having those different points of view of the same show worked really well for me at I+E.

I don't want a GA ticket in a stadium. I'm too old for this and not having to worry about placing will allow me to hunt for autographs earlier in the day.

Another GA secured in the presale for the 2nd London show. Going both nights now so it will good to see where the best place to stand is on the first night. Got the tickets in just a few minutes- no trouble at all. I'd say the U2.com subscription is worth it just to reduce the amount of stress when buying.

But it does add $50 to the price of your ticket(s).

What are the prices for "Side View" seats at Metlife Stadium (or any stadium I guess)?
