Listening on Spotify.

The Streets remix by Flood is garbage, wth. Was he even trying here, or just fooling around. Pointless nonsense.

Totally disagree. It's muddled and not linear, but I LOVE the new lyrics it provides. "Where the streets have no faith, where the streets have no love, where the streets have no name" puts a much darker, hopeless feel on the chorus of the song. It's an awesome inclusion. Having those to incorporate into what Streets is is completely worth the meandering quality of the remix.

Well in regards to the lyrics it may be an early version Bono had written... which is good to hear, but just release an early demo of the song instead of of the copy/paste/overlap meandering remix.

I hope none of these remixes are indications of what's to come on SOE. Lillywhite and Jacknife are both producers.

To me, there are no early or late demos, there are only different interpretations of the song. They all add new richness and insight to the song, regardless of when they were released or performed. U2 songs progress and evolve; they're not static releases that are stuck in a moment.

It probably makes more sense to take their work as part of a whole, rather than focusing on individual remixes of 30-year-old songs.

I love the extra lines in Streets, but I'm not a fan of the remix as a whole. Love the remix of Bullet though, and the OTH remixes.

Also I think this is the best live recording CD I've heard from U2, in terms of the mixing. It sounds amazing

WOWY and Bullet are the best remixes.

RHMT and RTSS are ok.

OTH and Streets are misfires. I don't feel the atmospherics work...overall a decent collection.

I have to say I like alternative mixes way more than remixes.

I love what Steve Lillywhite did with "I still haven't found..." just as I loved the alternative mix of "A sort of homecoming" by Daniel Lanois and Peter Gabriel.

OTH is super boring.
BTBS can't reach the intensity of the live versions despite the in-your-face bass, honestly not nearly as good as his vertigo remixes. Feels like an inferior "I'm Afraid of Americans".

RTSS is OK, don't really see the point. RHMM is also kinda "why bother".

The tambourine of the WOWY remix is honestly pure garbage, WTH did he do with what was probably the best part of Larry's drumming on that song. Bono sounds different from the album. Might be some of the layers of the original only or could be a different recording. Don't really care for the transient atmosphere. Almost manages to be boring. Far weaker than the album version.

Streets is… something.

Overall the mix is a mess in those things, and they're really just not that good. No mix reaches the height of Justice GOYB, Perfecto Lemon or Jacknife's own Vertigo.

Even better than the real thing (fish out of water remix) 2011 is the best.

i still think its cool the original producers had a shot to remix.  I find the RTSS mix quite good, very beautiful.  Seems that Lanois captured even more of a landscape quality to this tune than the subtle undertones of the original present.

I quite like the Lanois remixes. They both add a spacey, summery feel that reminds me of the Million Dollar Hotel soundtrack, not surprisingly since Lanois was part of that recording too.

It's like the demo that's on the album documentary.

When listening to ISHFWILF 87 new mix we can see just how raw the version we Know and love really is.

i don't have these yet but i will get them off itunes soon.

i do wish they'd have stuck with the Kindergarten idea and just done JT demos in album sequence. its always fun to see what the song was before it came to be what we know.

A dark, hopeless feel? On STREETS? That's gonna be a hard pass for me, thanks. And I do mean thank you; I almost bought this today. I can go to my grave not hearing that one.

I was already on the fence, because of having several boots from that tour and the 20th anniversary box. I wondered if there would be any value there for me. Finding out that one remix I was otherwise curious about is basically sacrilege kind of tips the scale toward passing on this one. I know that may sound silly to some, but I don't think I need this.

The song was inspired by Bono's witnessing famine in Ethiopia. The song has lyrics like "The cities a flood and our love turns to rust. We're beaten and blown by the wind, trampled in dust" and "I want to take shelter from the poison rain." The song has always had a very dark heart, regardless of how easy it is to bounce to live or how bright the lights are on stage. "Where the streets have no faith, where the streets have no love, where the streets have no name" just fleshes out that darkness a bit. It has always been a song about trying to escape destruction.

And succeeding in escaping the destruction, not wallowing in it. Sorry, this has been my favorite song for 30 years; I like it the way it is. If I want darkness -- and sometimes I do -- I'll cue up Achtung Baby. I like my Streets soaring and hopeful. Just my opinion. Y'all 'enjoy' your emo Streets. :)

Really like most of the remixes, red hill is okay
Very refreshing take on the songs. Except red hill
Imho
Amazing to hear the demo/alternate vocal tracks, a reminder of how tremendously powerful bono's voice was back then.

Red Hill is the least tinkered with. Listen to Bono's 87 Fanning interview to get insights into the meaning of Streets. The power is in the delivery. Everything is on the table.

Definitely digging the Lanois mixes the most. Which isn't surprising considering he co-produced TJT and has a lot of emotional investment in the album.

Flood was there too, but his new mix is disappointing.

I agree on Streets. It's very different, and the difference showcases the alternate lyrics.

I love Lanois' mixes the best.  I wish he were producing SOE.  Flood's Streets mix is just so weird.  Why does it quickly fade in mid song.  Sloppy...  I dig some of the atmospherics but that fade is unforgivable.  Lillywhite's ISHFWILF mix is interesting as it showcases some of the underlying rhythmic elements.  I think the OTH and BTBS remixes are interesting as well but I am glad I didn't purchase this.  Of course the b-sides we already had are brilliant.

I love the live tracks.  Much better than the Paris concert in many ways.  This is where this set shines.

I too wish we would have gotten some good early Kindergarten type mixes as well.

Side note: Hope we get some more good quality ZooTv shows in the future from early in the tour.  The show I saw in early '92 in Tacoma was amazing.

^^Agreed about the MSG live set. Great concert. Now for the 35th anniversary or something I hope they release a full live album from Tempe AZ that they used in the Rattle and Hum film.

I was mostly disappointed in all the remixes. I had been looking forward to them, as I *loved* Lanois' new mix of A Sort of Homecoming from the TUF remaster, but these were mostly super boring.

Streets remix is kinda messy but I love how the the different lyrics sound. The fade by the end is cool, I definitely imagine it being used as soundtrack for some sports event ad. I also noticed that by 3:30 you can hear a part of WOWY in the background, strange.

YAS, love the new mixes, love love love WOWY seems very fresh, Bullet is what is would be if they released this song in 2017... OTH was beautiful, Silver and gold w/ Keith richards is fire .. Bonos vocals yassss

Question - Beautiful Ghost/Intro to songs of experience ... I don't get it ? I initially thought It would like a new song off SOE... or is a demo? Highly Confused

Lillywhite's mix of Still haven't found is ok...Eno's "reprise" mix of OTH is weird. 2 mins or so and it's over.

Beautiful ghost is a JT sessions leftover.

Beautiful Ghost is from 2004, or so. It's just a poem of William Blake

I agree with you--though of course, I'd already had the b-sides.  (Twice, in fact.  Three times, in some cases!)

The show is really pretty good--it's just a bummer they cut out arguably the most interesting tracks.

The instrumentation of BG/SOE is definitely 80s. So is Drunk Chicken. Probably no touches for the original 2007 first release.

I feel like NLOTH was possibly innovative and fresh, but second guessing led to its final, almost sterile form. Shame, Lanois recent work is amazing, would be  nice to hear him sprinkle some of that mojo on their next release

I had a listen on Spotify today, the mixes are pretty cool. They're never going to trouble the originals as being the definitive version but they're cool all the same.
