You pretty much nailed them all.

I don't think 'Crazy Tonight' is all that bad, but I wish they just called it 'Crazy Tonight'.

Definitely I'll Go Crazy if I Don't Go Crazy Tonight.  STUPID.
Way too long and should be truncated to "I'll Go Crazy".

God Part II?  are you serious?  you clearly don't understand why that title was chosen (vis-a-vis John Lennon).

I am well aware of why the song title was chosen and what the frame of reference is.  Regardless of WHY it was chosen, I just don't think it's a good song title.  Is that OK with you?

God Part 2 is baaad.  Love and Peace or Else is pretty awful too.  The song doesn't back it up, either.  But I'll Go Crazy is one of the worst titles ever.

picking up on a well known song by a famous person, writing a new song that builds on it stylistically and lyrically and then to name it as a sequel...on an album where the band clearly means to suggest that they are standing on the shoulders/with the likes of Dylan, Hendrix, the Beatles, Elvis...it seems a perfect title.

but if you don't agree, what am I gonna do?

There's nothing wrong wtih disagreements.  But when you tell me I don't understand something, well, you really don't know what I do and don't understand.  You can pile every historical reference in the world behind a title but if it's a bad-sounding title, then its a bad-sounding title. In my opinion.

I love the song, but I have a problem with the title in that they are taking it upon themselves to "sequel-ize" someone else's work.

It's quite presumptuous at best, incredibly arrogant at worst.

Still not as bad a title as stuck or crazy though

Some titles I don’t care for (although I like most of these songs to some extent):

Holy Joe….   Just sounds silly to me
Big Girls Are Best…  It just sounds demeaning to me
Stuck in a Moment

Hmmm… I thought I’d think of more, but those are the only ones I really don’t care for.

I really like some of the titles that have been mentioned...Womanfish, The Electric Co (ironically throwaway title for a very angry song), Alex Descends Into Hell For A Bottle Of Milk (mixture of apocalyptic and whimsical), Hawkmoon 269, Shadows And Tall Trees (I like the William Golding reference, but the title fits the song's mood of teenage suburban ennui even if you're not familiar with Lord of the Flies)...

But I agree the '00s long titles are pretty awful and embarrassing.   Crazy, Stuck, etc.

I thought this thread won't explicitly have any song bashing, because I avoid such threads. PoE is a great song, once you get into the groove for it. (try it at 3am when it's quiet, and there's no one around, any you're not reaching for Stay). The starting sounds like snowflakes being shaken from a can of powdered sugar, if that names sense. I'm not typically going to ever defend 'Peace on Earth', but I'm not sure that listing the lives of people who died in the Omagh Bombing and saying 'Their lives are bigger than any big idea' really qualifies as meaningless - at least in comparison to quite a lot of U2's catalogue, from Some Days Are Better Than Others to Elevation.

Yeah, I understand that part. But a lot of the rest of the lyric is just kind of inane. I mean, "where there was trees [grammatical error] we'd tear them down and use them on our enemies"?

Plus it's sung poorly.

Totally random, but I have to know- is ":if I were able" in Crumbs From Your Table a grammatical erorr also? Okay, jusdt being random. :D

Topic.
I'l Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight is a needlessly long title
Some Days Are Better Than Others, I don;t really like...
Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of- also unecessarily long, the only thing about this song that annoys me
Love And Peace Or Else is a silly title.

It's always "If... were" if what's being talked about is hypothetical (as in, "If I were taller"). But you can use "was" with "if" when you're talking about something real event in the past ("I'm not sure if I was born yet").

PS - I thought Bono sang, "if I was able" in Crumbs? If so, it's wrong.

No argument on the poor singing, but I think the lyrics make sense, even if they can be a bit crude. (Although I am personally a fan of 'hope and history won't rhyme) That line is DEFINITELY a poor and crude line, but it does make sense- it's essentially saying that even where there is something as simple and harmless and potentially beautiful as a tree, it gets torn down and used as a weapon  - like wood in catapults, or whatever.  Man's capacity to turn even things meant to help into things meant to hurt, essentially. Again, really bad lyric, no question- but I wouldn't say it's meaningless.

Oh that's what it's about.  I thought Bono was just singing about his childhood.  In that case I'd better scrub my earlier post. :-[

Crumbs From Your Table refers to how the wealthy (in this case, a wealthy country) will always looks after its own comfort and wellbeing before that of the poorer (country). All that we give them is the metaphorical crumbs left over from our feast, which we then sweep to the floor for them to consume.

I actually thought Bono sang "The pope and history won't rhyme", so 'hope' actually makes more sense  ;D Anyway, PoE is moot point. You won't see them performing it live anytime, nor giving it any homorable mention.

Love and Peace or Else. Stupid title and worse song. Like the only U2 song I truly can't listen to.

Yea. Dumb title. I used to hate it but the live version makes me appreciate it more. Anyways dumb title is dumb.

Two shots of happy one shot of sad

That's Frank Sinatra's title, not U2's.

What do you mean? As I understand it U2 wrote it (and presumably titled it), right?

Well I'll be damned. All this time I thought the song was a cover.

Were you thinking of Ive Got You Under My Skin?

Yes I was.

And Peace On Earth has been performed live. Several times.
