Why would they only announce some dates and not them all?
That's plain stupid.

Don't know why this announcement couldn't of been delayed for a week or 2 to try finalise everything for the Irish shows. Now fans here have to make the decision to go somewhere else to see them or hope they are free when they play here or more importantly are lucky enough to get a ticket as they be in such high demand

There will be a lot of seriously disappointed Scottish fans this morning - as there no doubt will be in many other countries around Europe.  We were lucky to have 2 outstanding nights on the I&E tour but having missed out on JT30, really thought we may be lucky this time around.  It's highly likely that this will be the last tour for a long time so we could well be talking another 4 years before the band are back in Scotland if we go by their traditional touring cycles. Blimey 2022 now there's a seriously depressing thought  :(

Dont think there will be a Scotland as said before think Kevin Bridges has the 18 shows booked @ The Hydro around time U2 are here its only Dublin & Belfast & Poland too drop dates now but most citys will get extra shows.

Must say that Polish fans feel cheated and dissapointed, too.
Poland is the only country from these listed on SOE album pre-sale list, with no home gig.

Hard to understand why and what went wrong with concert negotiations.

Dumb, Dumb, Dumb.

Its about selling tickets than the fans.

If you want to travel and hit a couple of shows, including Dublin or Belfast, you can't do it.  Why not announce the tour all at once?

They know they will sell out in Dublin and Belfast, not necessarily elsewhere, given what happened in North America.  Likely a few dates will be added (London2), but probably not a lot.  Looks like they want the large gaps in the schedule.

From a personal perspective I wouldn't be to fussed about attending a Dublin gig. Have been to a few now and there wasn't really that much ''special'' compared to other gigs.

Was at the Dublin Joshua tree gig and the Paris gig, and I thought Paris blew it out of the water. Same for the I&E gig's nothing stood out from the Dublin gigs that I thought wow.

But I suppose at the end of the day it's all about one's own perspective.

Are the Irish dates really going to be that 'special'? From what I heard of TJT show in Dublin, it was exactly the same as all the other European shows (OK so The Joshua Tree was going to be played regardless, but they could have thrown a few different songs in either side of it).

well, i've pre-booked a hotel for the london show (s...) im there 23rd-25th so hoping a show on the 24th will be added. Going to do manchester easy as it's about an hours drive from home for me :D. Gutted there's no Glasgow though, those 2 shows were some of the best i've ever been to in 2015  8)

The Kevin Bridges thing was a valid excuse before the announcement until it's become apparent the tour will carry on to the end of October in Dublin and Belfast and the SSE Hyrdo is free then, so what gives.....

Yes, as your album code is not related to your Fan-club one. That's if you ever get your album code one. Although I received the album ok, I never received an order confirmation and it doesn't show up in previous orders on the site. So I am sure a shaft is on its way.

Just wondering, not that I am going to any European shows, but was there no verification process for U2 subscribers and for the general sale for the European tour or was this just to screw and get North American audience upset?

So scalping is only a problem in the U.S. and Canada and not Europe?

Next time U2 goes on tour or even if they add another North American leg to this tour they just better post they code on the tour page like they are doing for the European leg and not have us go through this verification B.S. again and not give codes to true fans whom they mistake or think are scalpers.

It also says on U2.com that presale codes will be emailed to you if you scroll down further.  It's in the question about SMS messaging (there won't be any SMS for Europe dates).  So not sure if they will be posted or emailed.

I'm dutch, member of u2.com... so off course i want to go to Amsterdam (a couple of times..)

But i wanna use my u2.com code for a foreign show... i'm torn between Berlin and London... which one would you choose?

Also i can't find prices for London... (haven't really searched for Berlin yet)... is there a price difference between countries?
Is London going to be more expensive than Amsterdam?

I pre ordered the album and a friend of mine too, so i'm hoping we can get tickets for the Amsterdam shows that way.

Why not just say they will go on sale in a month or something, so that people actually have time to discuss options with friends etc, do some planning. It just seems such an unnecessary rush.
Also, I cant understand why there isnt any fan verification, or why they havent explained whether there is or there isnt. I registered for verified fan for the US dates, purely to see how the process worked ahead of the European dates. And now... nothing.

Another rant too- why on earth are the prices not clearly advertised? It seems totally wrong to get people lined up with priority codes, logged in during a specific sales window, only to find that the tickets are more than they expected and they have to make a quick decision. My guess is that, more often than not, people spend the extra regardless because they have to make the decision there and then.

Price ranges are currently shown on the Ticketmaster site.

Why be so vague about it? A price range gives the top price and the bottom price- there are only going to be something like 5 categories of price, why not just give the proper information? After all, the cheap seats will be very very few and the top price will be the tickets still on sale in two weeks time, because they are outside of most peoples means. Which leave only 3 categories that most people will be looking to buy and the only thing we know is that they will be less than £271 and more than £36....
I can take a guess based on the previous i and e tour, but, again, it feels like people who have waited patiently in the queue and think they may not get a chance to get tickets, suddenly find they are through and have to make a snap decision with options disappearing quick, perhaps spending more than they might rationally have considered paying if they had been aware of the price the day/week before.

Is anyone REALLY going to be asking for I.D for 15 year olds? Unless they look really, really young I wouldn't have thought anyone would go asking - there'll be thousands of people going through the gates, they'll want people in as quickly as possible.

I see from ticket info that you cannot take under 16s onto the floor.
I was planning on taking my wife and 15 year old kids.
This means that we can't all go be together now!

Is anyone REALLY going to be asking for I.D for 15 year olds? Unless they look really, really young I wouldn't have thought anyone would go asking - there'll be thousands of people going through the gates, they'll want people in as quickly as possible.

That was my thought.
I have boy/girl twins and by boy is taller than me so looks older and my daughter much smaller but it's just that small niggle.

I got 2 tickets and hope to get 2 more with my album code.
My wife has said she will only go if it's seating but I can't get 4 tickets together so needs to be standing which suite me haha

I'm in London but wanted to go to Berlin.

Had standing tickets in basket, but because I'd selected souvenir tickets, Ticketmaster were going to charge me 35 euros for delivery.

I unselected souvenir option, but postage options didn't change - bug in system, really.

So went back to change tickets and, yes, they'd sold out. Bah.

My cousin was going to get me 2 additional GA for manc but could not get any.
So is it the case when the tickets go on general sale you can purchase 4?
Does seem unfair that as fan I can't take my family!

Couldn't get GA for Amsterdam this morning, waited half an hour and then the only tickets left were £200 each. When will they address Seatwave and Viago websites selling tickets at well over the odds minutes after they go on sale. Unfair that you pay for a U2 subscription and cant get tickets even before they go on general release....

Does any think they'll be more European gigs announced? Really don't wanna pay £200+ for a ticket.  Very odd to have one London gig and no Glasgow gig! Hoping there's a chance of another London gig, but I'm doubtful.

Yes, I can guarantee they will add more dates.  I've hearing some pretty strong rumours that all European shows will get at least two nights.
Title: Re: Europe dates confirmed
Post by: jules on January 19, 2018, 08:29:10 AM
Indeed. Setting up the stage and everything costs an enormous amount of money. Keeping the stage for another night cost much less... so the more consecutive shows they can do the better in terms of profitability.
In simple terms most cities will defo get at least 2 shows.

There is nothing listed @ 02 from 24th Oct untill 2/3rd Nov thats a 10 day gap     https://www.theo2.co.uk/events/venue/the-o2-arena/48

Got £70 seated at O2 at 2:30pm today with Innocence group code so must be plenty available. Glad I did not have to rely on the pre-ordered CD purchase as both my CD and code never turned up.
Note the O2 site does not work with an I-phone. Laptop only otherwise the select ticket button just freezes...

I looked at that.  Do you get to see the screen?  Got sec Sec 116 and second to rear row for Manchester for £110.  View of stage side on, catwalk, b-stage and screen.  Although the b-stage will be a little further away.

Any info / rumors on dates for Dublin and Belfast?

Belfast is supposed to be 31st October / 1st November. Was reported (in the Irish Sun, based on a dubious source) that the Dublin shows would be 23rd / 24th September, but that seems unlikely. Logistically it may not make sense to travel from Madrid, to Ireland, then onto Copenhagen. However, if the Belfast dates turn out to be accurate, then I'd expect Dublin shows to be scheduled after them - so, early November.

According to a "leak" Dublin will be Sept 23/24th.

If this is the case, they could squeeze in Belfast on the 26th and 27th, assuming they only do 2 shows in Dublin (which is likely).  That would give them one day to make it to Copenhagen (unless they only do 1 show in Belfast). The SSE in Belfast is open until Sept 29th (Shania Twain).

The Irish Sun (just like the UK equivalent) is a gutter tabloid. It is not a reliable source for most things, especially U2 concert dates, particularly when the source is a French fansite that has no more authority than anyone else. I could be proven wrong in time, but I personally doubt that the Irish shows will be shoehorned into any gaps in the pre-existing schedule. I would've thought that, once all presales are finished and general sales begin for the definite cities, then additional shows will be added depending on demand. Logistically it makes sense for Irish shows to happen close together, since they'll obviously happening on the same island in cities roughly 100 miles apart. That's why I think that they'll be added to the end of the existing schedule, which will probably be augmented with more shows in due course anyway.

The logistics definitely make it highly unlikely the Dublin shows will be September.  Anyone know what French site it was ( checked u2achtung and u2france and no mention of Dublin)

I think it will be Belfast then Dublin after London which should probably have 4 dates, as 2 is definitely nowhere near the demand in that city, and obviously they can sell four shows easily ££££ !

So the Oct 31 date looks possible for Belfast then Dublin sometime from 4th November as  the 3arena is available from then.

Funnily enough, The Sun don't specifically mention which 'French fan site' it is, but if it's even legit at all, it's clearly not one that'd be considered reputable! As my forum name would suggest, I'm following this particular line closely and, after the rumoured Belfast dates that emerged last week, there's been nothing since, for Belfast or Dublin.

Just got Seats for Manchester in the 02 pre sale upper block £111 in front of the stage + that collecter tix which aint really worth the extra had it for JT just dont want the hassle of having too keep checking all time over coming months.

I did 02 in 2015 & sat behind the stage so these should be bit better it was either over £200 each or £111...!!!! Ive never been MEN before i do like too go some where different
each time.

Note if your looking on the 02 pre sale click collecter tix always shows up tixs where as standard tix dont come up as much another way too make £££££££

Still no announcement for Dublin or Belfast, not sure why.  Makes it very difficult if you want to go to a couple of shows and make a vacation of it.

With the Madrid Show being added on Sept 21 makes it less likely that Dublin would be between Madrid and Copenhagen.

Latest rumour is that the Irish shows will be announced early next week, possibly Monday. The dates will apparently be after the shows already announced, rather than being shoehorned into the existing schedule:

Can't believe Sat for MCR,  there is another act on Sunday and U2 have quite a big stage set for the arena.  I'm guessing it can be packed down easily and quickly.  At least I'll be at the first night - a night of making defiant statements, I think.

London should be thankful they are getting 2 after they got 2 last year. Birmingham hasn't been played in about 20 years and Glasgow is missing out for the second tour in a row. If you want to go to more shows do what the rest of us do and travel. I'll be in Manchester(or as i will be calling it for this tour - Glasgow South!)

I just go too a different city every time ive done the Hydro was the best ever show i hardly ever do home gigs its all about meeting new fans new citys & of course hearing Streets LIVE...!!! Im going too Manchester only cos ive never been MEN ive done 3Arena Hydro 02 so have no intentions going back too them.
i need too see them @ Cpark tho i just couldn't make it last year im sure sure they play there again tho its easy £££££ for them

I just dont think the Hydro is bigger enough for them @ mo the demand is just off the scale...!!!! I know im thinking ahead but im sure 2019 will see them again in EU there is a lot of places they missing
Poland
Switzerland
Belgium
Austria
Norway

To name a few the demand is huge im sure there will be a 2nd leg

I am also doing MEN as I have never been and London O2 is just too big. So maybe Dono, Jono2u and Gavin82 can all meet for a pint before/afterwards!

Managed to get tickets for Red Zone 1 for Manchester yesterday morning. Never been in the red zone before so very excited about this one. Anyone else got any red zone experience?

Dreamweave - never been in the red zone but did sit right behind it at I&E (London) - the folks in there seemed to have a great night. Loads of space to move around and a bonus that they were helping out Red with their ticket fees. I guess if you were looking for downsides I don't think any of them had a decent view of the big screen - but I'm sure that was more than compensated for by being right up close to the band. Definitely a good vibe coming from that part of the arena!

After a week of wasting my time in various presales ('thank' very much O2 for repeatedly putting me through to tickets for Michael McIntyres show when your 'presale' went live the other day (after sitting for 45 minutes in a useless waiting room) - I have finally managed to get standing for the 24th at the O2.
